Hello fellow Nesties!
I will be visiting your fair city this weekend with my husband and 2 year old son in tow. Any family-friendly events you can recommend?

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Art (dinosaurs, gems, sculpture) is very close as well as Phipps Conservatory (Santa, trains and pretty flowers).
There is an indoor play place called My Little Outback in Squirrel Hill if he needs to get out some climbing energy. The libraries in East Liberty and Squirrel Hill both have nice kid sections with some toys.
If it is mild, the zoo is open and the aquarium is great. There are a ton of playgrounds in the area, too. And the Children's Museum on the North Side is one of my favorite destinations with kids.
Have fun!
The childrens museum isn't far from where you are staying either. Lots of hands on type of things. It is a lot of fun too! Especially if you are looking for something more interactive. It is a lot of fun.
Enjoy your trip to the city!

You got lots of great suggestions already.
You're definitely staying in Shadyside, which is a nice central location for sightseeing. There are lots of restaurants to get food nearby.
Really? I didn't know that it closed. We used it a lot while I was out of work, but less once we only had weekends for that kind of thing.
You can also check out the holiday lights at Kennywood (local amusement park) - they are awesome, and it's cool to ride the merry-go-round to Christmas music and see all the lights whirl by. There are other rides open too - just dress warmly since it's outside, and going to be chilly on Sat evening. Here's a link for more info - http://www.kennywood.com/holidaylights
We're going on Sat night. Have fun no matter what you do!
