Pink Bathroom Tile...can i paint it???

I searched the boards here and i only found one discussion from last year regarding this topic and not a lot of answers....so i'm hoping there are some handy / pinteresting / know how people that can help me!

our bathroom is pink tiles from floor to about 4.5 ft up the wall and up much higher in the shower.

i want to paint it. i just want it gone. the wall paint is yellowed and i know there is no color that i can paint it that will make the tile look any better anyway, so i just want it white! any suggestions? i've found some "epoxy" kits but they seem kind of expensive.

i saw a couple of posts on pinterest where they have cleaned, sanded, primed and used a glossy paint and it worked.

anybody have their own story or suggestions??

I haven't painted tiles, but I know a few people who have. It doesn't look perfect, but it was a major improvement over the pink, avacado, etc. that they were covering up.

Is there any possiblility of re-doing the bathroom? The previous owner in our house ripped out the old tiling in the bath, and replaced it with new tile in the shower and wainscoting throughout the rest of the bathroom. Or what about calling in Bathfitters?

You can buy plain white tile at Home Depot for cheap. I would rip out the old and redo in white. Painting will not look good. Save yourself the effort and just redo.

Check out this blogger - she has painted tile before. She used it on her kitchen backsplash and on her fireplace surround. She's a great blogger, and I bet that if you have any questions, she would be more than willing to respond about how it has held up so far.

I believe they make special paint for tiles but I would think that in a high-traffic area like a bathroom (which could also get wet), it would peel/chip pretty easily.

We had the same thing in our bathroom, had a professional reglaze it to white. It looks brand new, love it! We had the tub reglazed too.

I would replace the tile. Painting sounds like a nightmare.
