What to wear?

I have my company Christmas dinner party tomorrow night and I'm trying to figure out what to wear.  It's at Ruth's Chris (a nicer steakhouse if you aren't familiar) and I've never been there.  I'm thinking of wearing nice jeans, heels, a sparkly tank and white blazer.  Kinda like this, but worried jeans may be too casual.
Holiday glamour

I also have this dress that I'd wear with a black and gold belt and a dressier black leather moto jacket.

Re: What to wear?

  • Hmm, I'd go with the dress to be safe.  While I've seen all types at Ruth's Chris, it's your company Christmas party and it's dinner.  They tend to be fancier at dinner.

    And you'll love it, BTW.

    Now I want steak.

  • Ooooh, I LOOOOOVE that first outfit!! Seriously, I want it for MY company's Christmas party next week!!

But, if you want to make sure you're dressy enough, I'd pair it with a nice pair of dark dress pants; I think skinny ankle pants with the heels would be perfection! Navy blue, charcoal gray, or black would all work with the lighter/champagne color scheme on top.

That dress is really nice, too though! Do you have a dark blazer you could pair with it, though, rather than the moto jacket? Maybe one with a contrasting inner liner so you can cuff the sleeves up a bit?

  • I have never been to one, but googling it is showing me some fancy pictures. Although I love that first outfit, the dress is probably the safer bet.

  • I love outfit 1.  I think the sparkly top is super cute and dresses it up.  Lucky made a good suggestion about skinnies which may take it up a notch over jeans.

  • Yeah, I have a black blazer with champagne and black striped lining I could use.  I also have an all black blazer.

I don't have any dressy skinnies but I could probably go get some.  But then I'd have to hem them tonight... :( Short girl problems.

  • I love #1, but since it's Ruth's Chris, I'd probably go with the dress... unless you can get some skinnies in time! Have fun! I haven't ever been there but it's on our list. I've heard it's amazing!

See if you can find ankle-length skinnies. I got some from Old Navy, and they don't end up all scrunched around my ankles from being too long. If you can find some, they might work better for you than when you buy regular styles of pants that naturally need a longer inseam.

I actually need to go by Old Navy tonight to return some things, so I'll check out their selection.  Thanks!

I love Marlena too!  I've ordered some of her products and have been happy for the most part.  Have you gotten anythin from her line?

So, I went to ON last night and bought a paid of their Diva Skinnies, but I just wasn't feeling it when I tried it on with the blazer and sparkly top.  I tried it on with jeans and it looks so much better.  Idk, I'm changing at work and brought both outfits with me so I guess I'll decide later.

Haven't bought anything yet, but she has such a helpful website (especially for someone who didn't learn how to apply make-up until my 30's!). Can't wait to see what you end up wearing!
