Had my first belly rub

I'm back home and my aunt did it. I totally laughed because there's nothing there to really rub yet (even though I catch myself doing it all the time). I almost told her it was fat she was rubbing but I didn't want to take it away from her and she's more than welcome to rub away (love her to death). Just thought I'd share the funny. Ohhh, and I'm not sure bc I've never had it before, but I just ate some popcorn and might be having a little heartburn? I don't know what it feels like? (Heartburn that is, not popcorn. I've had that plenty haha)

Re: Had my first belly rub

  • I usually get a burning sensation in my chest with heartburn. Almost like a burning pressure.

Acid reflux for me feels more of a sharp pain under the sternum or burning in my throat.

Do either of those sound like it?

Also that's funny you already got your baby blump rubbed. My aunts did the same thing early on. ;)

ETA I liked to find the humor in getting my blump rubbed, and it was sweet that everyone was as excited as I was for baby, even if it was weird having my fat rubbed. Lol

  • I had my belly rubbed at my Uncle in laws funeral and was told how I had a little bump going on.

I was maybe 13-14 weeks. I told them it was just fat.

Hearburn/Acid Reflux is the same for me as sgautschi - sometimes I'll wake up with a scratchy throat from it...

  • I was a bitch and wouldn't let family members rub my belly until there was something to actually rub. I think I hurt my moms feelings the first time but I felt weird about them rubbing and poking at my chub.

  • Oy at the belly rubbing before there's even anything to rub. I'm glad it was just your aunt and it didn't bother you, though.

Lol to all of this. So the feeling is square in my chest. Like right between my boobs. It feel like a rough piece of popcorn got lodged there and is scratching me. Oh and some pressure. It hasn't gone away. Honestly I know it's not popcorn because it would have dissolved, passed though by now. I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come.

  • Sounds like it could be heartburn. Tums should help, I lived off those the last few months of pregnancy.

I've also heard milk helps heartburn, but I wouldn't know because I don't drink milk. ;)

GDI. I know this will sound stupid, but it's always been a weird source of pride for me that I've never had heartburn. I don't know why. Maybe because I thought it meant I had a strong constitution or something silly. So I'm sad about this. Thankfully right now it's more of annoyance and I hope it stays that way. Thanks for answering my questions!

  • We'll at least it's just pregnancy induced. You should be back to your non-heartburn self right after you give birth. ;)

  • Lucky for you guys! I never had heartburn before pregnancy. I got it to the extreme while pregnant and now I get it maybe a couple times a month. Ugh.

Also, I didn't mind the belly rubs either :) except when people touched my belly buttonit freaked me out.

  • :-) I think I might mind if it was a stranger, but right now I'm so happy and proud that I don't think I'd mind if it was anyone else in the family or a close friend. Thanks for the PP's posts about heartburn. It went away :D

  • I didn't mind belly rubs. Quick and sweet. Only time it was an issue was a male coworker gave a tap/rub, I felt weird and didn't like it. At all. I told him it was unacceptable, he looked at me like I was a 'crazy pregnant lady'.

  • :::late to the party:::

Not sure how I feel about belly rubs. I guess I will find out when I get my first one.  Hopefully it won't be til there's something to rub!

Regarding heartburn, I used to get it once in a while but definitely more often now.  Tums are my BFF sometimes. I've tried the milk thing and it definitely works (heavy cream is actually better), but it only covers the symptoms, as opposed to solving the problem.  It sounds counter-intuitive, but if you drink orange juice (or something acidic), it will signal your body to stop producing the acid that's causing the heartburn. Glad yours went away, though! It's definitely no fun.

  • I didn't mind belly rubs one bit, although it didn't really happen that often. When it did it was close friends. And I'm an AW so whatevs.
