UO

I am tired of being treated like pregnancy is a disease or disability. I seem to get flak non-stop at church for stuff. Yesterday I went to help scoop ice cream. My mom said I shouldn't since I was pregnant. I've had a lady tell me that carrying a notebook and bible down some stairs will make me loose the baby...because that's how her daughter lost pregnancies. People glare at me if I have caffeine during coffee hour. Don't even get me started about the comments about getting rid of my dog, how I shouldn't be working, how I shouldn't go to the gym or walk my dog anymore.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • :-O @lb1117, seriously?!?! I probably would have lost it on someone by now if I were you. Ugh.

That's definitely not an UO, but I get the need to vent it.

@luckyangel07 - yep! Totally happens... At least a few times a week. I finally told the one lady that I would give her my baby if my dog was the problem. She didn't find it funny at all.
    I would totally do this!!

  • Not sure if this an UO here, but it definitely is where I live:

I hate snow. Hate it, hate it, hate it! Every time DH mentions the possibility of snow (since we began dating), I respond with a resounding, "NO SNOW!"

I swear it worked for a few years :)

  • Lb, I'm so sorry you're dealing with people like that. My SMIL was like that immediately after we told them we were pregnant. It even went as far as telling me I shouldn't wash my car, sand the door we were refinishing, or drink any coffee (even decaf).  Coming from a woman who smoked through all of her pregnancies.

Some people just need to learn when to stop. It's your decision on what you do and don't cut out.  You know you have our support if you want to stand up to them.

LB - my family wouldn't let me hold my 4 month old nephew when I first got pregnant. They said that it was too much weight for me to carry around and that if I did, i could lose the baby.

I SCREAMED at my mom because between her and my aunt, they took the baby away from me if I held him for more than 5 seconds. They took him away from me 13 times in a 2 hour span. I lost my shit.

  • I'm sorry you ladies have overbearing people in your lives. I was lucky and only had my grandma give me a hard time. And it was only a one time thing.

I was 38 weeks pregnant and at my cousins shower. I had been drinking lots of water, and snacking on chips and dip, waiting on the real food to be done, but started feeling shaky. My grandma saw me and asked if she could get me anything. I told her "yes please, I would like a soda, I'm feeling shaky" knowing it would hold me off until the food was ready. She mumbled something under her breath and brought me chips and dip....Why ask me what I want if you're not going to bring it to me?

My sister was watching and just shook her head, got up and asked me what kind of soda I wanted. And like I thought it would, the soda helped.

If faced with choosing to manually flip baby or having a scheduled c-section, I'm choosing a c-section.  If said c-section is scheduled before January 1st, I won't be upset about it.

    I too love snow.

DS went from head down to breech at 39 weeks. I opted for a scheduled c-section. I tried for a Dec 31st (which would have been 39w1d and the day we found out he was no longer head down) but DH was kinda freaked out and said we could wait until the last day possible. So we ended up with 1/3, 39w4d.

As long as it is within the 39th week I would. Tax consequence is big.

Most of these are not UO. Not even in the realm of being an UO.

My UO is that I don't like UO threads. Either the opinions are not unpopular or people use it to be an asshole under the guise of it being an UO. There have been a few UO threads that created interesting dialogue, but those are few and far between.

I just kind of assumed that not wanting to go with moving baby and a c-section could be moderately UO, just because it would mean I was essentially electing to have a c-section. It's been highly UO to almost everyone IRL who I've talked about it with. Not to mention that my whole basis for wanting it before 1/1 is for taxes.

Oh no. Yours could be an UO ;). How many weeks will you be 12/31?

I really just mean UO in general.

I was gonna say! I'll be 38 exactly. We start talking options at my 36 week appointment.

It's really hard to have an UO in my eyes, I don't mind options! I just like them more when they agree with mine.

After I read what it involves it scared me half to death and sounded incredibly painful... not to mention it can result in having an emergency c-section or going into labor.

I feel like 37/38 weeks isn't that early, I mean, it's early... but if manipulating the baby can put me into labor why would I risk it when I can have the baby in a controlled and safe situation?

  • Apparently my UO is having my NT scan done at 11weeks. My family (very religious) was like Ahhhhhh! Why??? Would you abort if it did??? (No). Then why do another ultrasound?? It shakes the baby around?? . . . I was totally unprepared for that. I explained why and they were ok with it, but they lost it for a second. Odd and unexpected.

One of my best friends had two unsuccessful versions that resulted in an emergency c/s. I've also heard that it's more risky with an anterior placenta. If it came down to it, we would opt for the c/s not the version.

I chose the c/s and refused the version. I didn't want to risk and emergency c/s. it worked out for me.

Personally, I would want to wait until 39 weeks to schedule a csection and your doctor might not schedule one before. A week or two doesn't seem like a big difference, but it can make a big difference.

Doctors are now moving to make 39 weeks full term, instead of 37 weeks. Here's an article with some info http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/25/health/term-pregnancy/

I wanted DS to stay in as long as possible and my ob was willing to schedule my c/s (for breech baby) at nearly 40 weeks. Edd 8/7 scheduled c/s 8/5. Of course DS came in his own 8/1 (still had a c/s).

And I was also high risk (GD). DS was so small (6lbs 4 ounces) I would hate to know what it would have been like if he had come any earlier. Might have meant possible NICU time.
