I should of stayed home in my sweats and watched tv like we normally do. Things started off well...no crowds at Toys R US, both stores had exactly what I was looking for, etc. It was getting late, but we went to dinner and M was great. Ate well, waving to people, just a happy girl. DH took M out to get her in her carseat while I signed the receipt. I spent an extra minute talking to our waitress who we have become friendly with over the years. By the time I get outside, DH is standing next to the locked car with M inside. She had the keys in her hand. Tried calling OnStar even though we don't have an active acct. Figured we could activate it. NOPE...that can only be done be pressing the blue button on the inside of the car! How does that even make sense??We tried calling again when firefighters were struggling. They were pissed that OnStar wasn't helping with a child involved. We had called 911 since there was a child involved. Took about 18 minutes for them to get there. The 2 guys could not get into the car. They tried the doors, windows, lift gate, etc. I think it had something to do with the fact that the remote was inside? They said they have never not been able to get into a car. Leave it to me to have the special car. Luckily they tried M's door b/c it wasn't shut all the way and b/c she was holding the keys in her hand, they used their tool to push the button on the remote. Oh and I had called inlaws to go get my set of keys and while dong that they set off our alarm so DH got a call from the alarm company. Fun times!! So glad its over.
Re: My Friday night
BTW Onstar sucks! My last car had it and the Onstar was activated when I got into a accident on the highway. I tried to press the Onstar button to call for help because my cell phone went flying somewhere in the car and it did NOTHING. just made some sort of beep/tone noise and never connected to anyone!
I have never heard anything good about OnStar. My aunt is a 911 operator in Pennsylvania & someone went missing. His car had OnStar, so the police called them to track the car down. They said they weren't allowed to disclose the location of the car because how did they really know it was the police & not someone who wanted to harm the guy. Three days later, his car was found in a ditch. He'd crashed & bled out because the OnStar never activated.
boy (n): a noise with dirt on it
Probably a little. Would of been worse if M was upset.
