Holiday party

Ok so salons are always full of drama.

Tonight we had a holiday get together at for The salon. Everyone kept mentioning it but never did it. So I am a person who likes to get things done so I planned it. 34 people RSVPed and only 16 showed up. I felt like a dumb ass with this huge table.

Part of the drama was that you had to pay for yourself. Well when people found out about that they didn't want to come.

The cool part was that our owner picked up the tab for food. Even though it wasn't needed it was appreciated.

I am disappointed in my co workers and should know that professionalism will never happen with the stylist breed.

Re: Holiday party

  • Lame.

How much did you have to pay to come?
  • Aww, I hope everyone that came still had a good time!

  • so they had to pay for their own drinks and thats it?

    Wow people...
  • They could have ordered water. I just think it's rude to say you are coming and then not show

The sad thing is stuff like this ruins it for everyone.  At one of my last companies, you had to pay some small amount to go to the Christmas party.  I think it was something like $10.  I asked about this at one point because there's no way that covered the costs.  They basically told me it was to ensure that only people who were serious about showing up RSVP.  Otherwise, you get a lot of people who RSVP and don't show. :(

  • Mark, I actually like that idea. It really works too. I do a $20 booking fee redeemable in product to my make up events.

I am hosting a baby shower next month for one of my friends/ co workers and I feel like saying RSVP by ... Then (RSVP means your coming)
  • I've had places, not where I work, where you had to pay the money to confirm, and then when you show up, you get your money back. That way, you don't show, they have money, but you still don't have to pay. But yeah really, it's not like drinks are THAT much. I did have to pay $5 for my christmas party for work.

  • Next year if I choose to be in charge I will do an open house at home.
  • But that will cost me more :/

Personally, for a company Christmas party, I always found it annoying.  Felt like the company should cover the cost of the party, not make the employees pay for it.

If you RSVP that you're coming, then you should come.  Short of ending up dead or dying....

  • Yes I agree about company parties if you work for a company. We are all independent inside a business so it was just a nice way to get together without clients.

Well, hopefully you still had a good time with those who showed.....
