Re: QOTD 12/9

  • Snowball cookies! (I have never made them though...maybe I will this week!)

  • Is it wrong to say I love them all?!  Because I do!  My favorite holiday cookie is probably Spritz cookies. Yummy!

  • Plain old sugar cookies, I put a little lemon zest in the dough and it makes them really pop.  No icing, just colored sprinkles.

  • I'm really not a huge cookie person so I don't have one.  I'm weird, I know.

  • My mama's pumpkin cookies.  I can write out the recipe tonight if anyone wants it's.  They are super moist, you have to keep them in the refridgerator or they go bad fast.

  • My grandmother makes this christmas bark that is seriously addicting. H and I call it Magic Bark because it "magically" disappears in our presence haha!

You put a single layer os saltine crackers on the bottom of a sheet pan, then you melt butter and brown sugar together to make a caramel sauce and our that over the saltines. That whole thing goes in the oven for a little bit, and then you cover the whole thing in chocolate chips and finely chopped walnuts (the residual heat from coming out of the open melts the chocolate chips). Let the whole thing cool and harden, then break it up into pieces. Sorry, I don't have the actual recipe with me but that's the general point.

  • @Nic12184 my grandma makes that too!!  she calls it "brittle" but it's not really brittle, the crackers make it kind of soft and chewy.  seriously good stuff!

  • HAHA @frank139, I think they should call that stuff CRACK! It is seriously addicting!!!

I make that every year. It's so easy and so hard to screw up haha.

My favourite Christmas cookie is....ALL of them. Sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles are the best but I'm not really picky.

  • I'm a huge sugar cookie fan, without icing or sprinkles.  I have the best recipe.  In the supermarket, go to the aisle with the cold Pillsbury stuff.  Buy the break and bake sugar cookies and follow the baking directions :P  I've never attempted to make my own sugar cookies, but I'm sure that it's simple.  Maybe I'll attempt over vacation.

I also love gingerbread cookies.  I looked up a recipe once and it was too involved.  You have to let the dough rest overnight.  I don't have patience for that.  I'd probably eat the entire bowl of batter before it was rested.
  • I love the shortbread butter cookies you can buy in Christmas shapes with the fine sugar crystal sprinkles. Mmmm.

  • I make a Toffee crackle cookie every year. I have also done a chocolate covered cherry chocolate cookie (very time consuming) and regular sugar cookies that I put a christmas Kiss on top.
