Do you have one in your home?
What does the change go toward? Spending money on vacation? Christmas? Lunch Money?
Just bored and curious. Wanted to see if anyone used theirs in a way I hadn't thought of. Thanks for playing along

Re: Change Jar
Yes, I have a small piggy bank.

I don't really have a use. Sometimes I'll snag money out for parking or laundry, but that's rare. It mostly just sits there until the bank gets full and I just put it in savings.
We have a change jar, but it rarely ever gets added to since we use debit cards for most purchases and don't have much change.
It's mostly there to toss change into for vacation, but there's probably less than $40 in it.

When we do roll the change it can go to various activities including to supplement our grocery bill especially if I go to the local Farmer's Market. I have in the past been able to roll over $40 in one sitting. We have also used this money in the past to help set up various accounts.
I use cash for our grocery shopping and my gas so I can generate decent amount of change quickly. I don't dare use debit when grocery shopping since I tend to over spend by at least $20 a visit.

I got a very small(size of a grapefruitish) piggy bank that I drop my change into. I do the envelope system so am basically cash only at this point so always have extra change laying around. When the bank gets full I take the change to the bank and deposit it. Right now into the account my snowball is coming out of but soon that will be changing over to savings. It's been working out pretty well. The last time I took it in I think there was right around $20 in there.
I do try to use exact change when I'm out and about though a la old lady, but there is always some left over at the end of the day.
Despite the fact that I have a few piggy banks because I love piggy banks and think they are cute, we actually put our change in a hard plastic cup. I actually hate change, except quarters. I continually put change in the cup just to get it out of my wallet.
Although I pay for most things with cash, I do a pretty good job of keeping change minimized by paying with exact change when I can. My guilty secret? I'll even give enough change to "quarter up" if I don't have enough for all of the exact change.
My husband gets a kick out of cashing in our cups every few years and just uses it for fun money. There usually isn't more than $60-$80. He is welcome to all of it as long as he takes it to the bank. I don't want any part of that mess, lol.
