Baby showers?

How many baby showers did you have?

I am very adamant that I only want one shower and that my mom is going to do most of the planning. I don't like the idea of having a shower for DH's family and then one for my side. I think we can all come together for one afternoon. Work typically doesn't throw individual showers for people.

I only had one bridal shower and my mom/bridesmaids planned it and we had MIL come up with the games so she still had a part in it. MIL already mentioned about planning a baby shower so I made sure that I told her later that my mom would be planning it. I am my mother's only daughter so this is the only chance she gets to plan something like this.

Re: Baby showers?

  • gah I hate being the center of attention.  one shower sounds good to me!
  • Yeah, one shower should do it. It's about you, not what they want. I'm glad you told her what's what

  • I'm an AW, so I will happy accept any shower that anyone wants to throw me. :) I would be totally happy with one, but I am kind of expecting two; one in the state I live in and one at "home."

  • I had one shower for family and friends with Delilah and then my work threw me one as well.

  • I don't like being the center of attention for personal stuff.  (If I overachieve at work or do something that's extraordinary- then I'm a total AW but not for having kids).  I didn't want a bridal shower and I only want one small baby shower.  That being said, if my co workers want to throw me one I wouldn't say no, that would be weird.  I work with 95% dudes so that won't happen.

  • My mom threw me one with the help of my MIL. I might have one at work, but I'm not aware of one being planned. Honestly, I'd rather not to have one at work. I hate being the center of attention.

  • I had three:

Shower #1: DH and I's family, around 50 people.

Shower #2: DH and I's friends, around 10 people. It was actually a shower/DH's birthday party, so it was a lot less formal and more of a get together than anything.

Shower #3: My coworkers threw one. We work in a small 10 person office.
