Weekend Reading

Happy Monday! Is it snowing where you are?

What books did you start/finish/make good progress on/totally neglect this weekend?

Re: Weekend Reading

  • I finished Alice in Zombieland, I really enjoyed it.

I read some of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, for some reason I just can't get into it like usual.

  • I finally finished The Fiery Cross last night.  It wasn't bad.  I was glad that some of the stories from earlier in the book came back around, but I still thought that overall, the book was disjointed and I didn't enjoy it as much as others in the series.

I also finished Dark Places on audiobook this morning.  I loved it.  5 stars for sure.  And thank you to everyone who suggested this one!
  • I read Lokis Wolves by KL Armstrong & MA Marr it was excellent. I also started Lemon Meringue Murder by Joanne Fluke.

It's snowing. The roads are sloppy.
  • It snowed yesterday.  I would have loved to have stayed in and read.  I'm almost done reading Sycamore Row.  I'm about halfway through listening to Curtsies and Conspiracies.
  • Sunny today but we got about 3 inches yesterday.

Finished Morning Glory by Sarah Jio and got about a quarter of the way through Unravel Me.

  • I finished The Sea of Tranquility last night. I enjoyed it. It wasn't what I was expecting.

I completely neglected The Dream Thieves. I'm not sure I will finish it before it's due back at the library next week.

I finished The Hollow by NR (book two of the Sign of Seven trilogy) and read 69% of The Pagan Stone (book three). They are # 36 and 37 for the year. I really enjoyed book two and am also enjoying book three.

ETA: No snow here. We did get some flurries about two weeks ago but it didn't stick. We usually get one good snowfall each year (by good I mean 2-3 inches haha). It's a downside to living in the South.

  • I got quite a bit read in Where'd You Go, Bernadette?.  I finished A Shot of Sultry which I loved and started the 4th Pretty Little Liars book.

  • I read nothing this weekend.  I don't even know what to read next.  I hoping in around two weeks to have a new pile of books though!
    :D

The outside world is icy here.  A lot downed trees in my neighborhood.  The local schools had a two hour delay, but we just found out they are doing a 90 minute early dismissal because of all the power outages and the trees on the roads.  And it's supposed to snow again tomorrow.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

  • It's not snowing here today. I made good progress on HP and the Order of the Phoenix. I'm 75% done with it now.

  • It snowed overnight and a little this morning. I love it!

I got through a bit of Catching Fire this weekend, but not much.

  • I finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home just in time to return it.  I really loved it.

School is cancelled today, and although most of the roads are okay it's still a slushy mess outside.  Plus, a lot of morons who can't drive live here.  It's just better to stay home.

  • I'm rereading Happily Ever After by NR.  We had the ice portion of the storm this morning.  I fell down some stairs near my car since they were a sheet of ice.  My ass hurts now.  A lot.  I can't get comfortable.

  • I finished "Into the Dreaming" by Karen Marie Moning.  It was definitely not as good as her other highlander books.

It snowed a teeny bit yesterday but is super cold today.  The high is like 21.

@RevJen - Did you injure your tailbone perhaps? That's the worst!

No.  It's heading toward my left hip.  The tailbone is fine as far as I know.  I may or may not have broken two fingers on my left hand.  There's no pain when I type and not much swelling but they bruised instantly.  I'm debating heading home.  I have two hours left to go.  I should probably stick it out.

It's a miracle I didn't hit my head and knock myself out.

  • I finished The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead.  I really liked it.

I started Legend by Marie Lu.  I'm somehow already 50% through, so it must be pretty good!  I think things are just about to get really interesting.

It snowed here this morning. Not a lot, about in inch or so.

  • I finished Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham, and I really enjoyed it.  I identified with the primary character.  I'm stuck now, because I don't have time to go to the library until Friday at the earliest.  I have two books that my friend has loaned me but I'm not super motivated to read them (The Burgess Boys and one by a local author called The Black Fire Concerto), and there's nothing compelling available from the e-library.  Humpf.

  • I continued to read Dragonfly in Amber and John Adams.  I need a few quick books after I get done with them because holy crap they are both so loooooooong

  • Finished Warm Bodies, started The Wonderful Wizard of Oz for the first time. Got some extra reading time in on Crown of Midnight during my bout of insomnia last night.

It's chilly out here. No snow or anything, but we put ice cube trays full of water out over night the other day and had ice cubes in the morning.

  • I finished HP and the Order of the Phoenix and Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock
@julie37619 how was Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock?  I loved Silver Linings Playbook but read an ARC of The Good Luck Of Right Now and didn't like it as much.

  • I've been a reading machine these past few weeks. Since I can't go 5 feet without my legs swelling up, I've been home a lot. ;)

I'm about halfway through Eleanor and Park. For some reason, this one weighs on me. I LOVE her writing but the characters are so real that I have to pace myself.

I just started The Winter Sea and I love, love, love it. Amazing writing and beautifully captured scenes. Everything just rolls so smoothly.

    I finished:
Catch Me by Claire Contreras. Light contemporary romance.
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisen. This was a unique epic fantasy.
A few bodice rippers for good measure.

  • I finished Vain by Amelie Fisher. I thought it was trite and super predictable and the writing was boring. There were tons of spelling and grammar mistakes - the author kept misusing loathe and loath. Womp.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • It snowed a bunch last night!  Took me an hour and a half to get to work (usually 35 mins), but it looks beautiful out there.

Still on Steven Tyler's biography.  This guy cracks me up.  Sex, drugs, rock n roll.  It's exactly what you'd expect, but his wording and metaphors are actually really funny.  I also finished All Summer Long by Susan Mallery last night.
