First tri question

Ladies, my knees hurt like hell. Is this like a hormonal thing, expanding cartilage and stuff? Did anyone else have these problems? One knee hurt beforehand froma fall a few years prior, but this is both knees. Just curious. I have a drs appt next Monday.

Re: First tri question

  • I think I read that joints relax during pregnancy. It might be that?

I hope the pain eases up soon!

  • my yoga instructor told me that you are your most flexible when pregnant. so maybe all the stretching ligaments is contributing to your pain.  I hope it goes away soon!

  • Yikes, sorry. I didn't experience that but I hope it doesn't last ):

Waiting on my baby girl <3 EDD 2/5/14

  • Progesterone is free flowing through your body right now.  It is responsible for "relaxing" your tendons and ligaments.  Everything shifts a bit from the progesterone and added weight during pregnancy (your feet can get bigger, your hips spread etc.).  It very well may be affecting your knees as well but I would ask about it.

  • Yes, I have had lots of knee pain. Early on, it really helped to sleep with a small pillow between my knees. I think things were just getting out of alignment, and combined with the loosening of the joints, there was pain. Once I really started gaining weight, there was no helping it, lol!
