  • DH is working on Christmas (I can't wait until he starts his new job. No nights, weekends, or holidays!)

We're going back to the Albany, NY area the weekend before Christmas to spend time with our families though.

  • Christmas Eve is with H's parents and sisters.  Christmas Day is with my family.
  • With my parents in North Carolina. We're driving down from NY so we'll get in a road trip and hopefully not kill each other. ;) DH's family lives in upstate New York and we spent Thanksgiving with them. We'll try to get in a belated Christmas celebration some time in January.

I'm excited! I haven't seen my parents since LAST Christmas (we didn't travel this year because we thought we'd be moving, and they've been busy getting my grandmother moved and selling her house).

  • Christmas Eve with H's family, Christmas day with mine.

  • We have Xmas eve at my parent's and Xmas at DH's parent's.  They are both local so we won't do much traveling.
  • We are going to Dallas the weekend before Christmas to spend time with H's side.  We don't have my stepdaughters this year for Christmas, so we are going to do it early with them then too.

For Christmas Eve, we'll go to my uncle and aunts house here in Austin for dinner and presents at midnight.  Christmas day we'll probably just hang out at our house, maybe go see a movie if we want to get out of the house.

  • Our families are both in the same city so we will be spending some time with both of them. My parents are having the inlaws over a couple days before Christmas for a big dinner. I work Christmas Eve and then Christmas morning for a couple of hours, and then we're heading out to my parents. Boxing Day we travel about 45 minutes to H's aunt, for his family's big get together.

  • We are staying local. On Christmas Eve we will go to my parents for a big dinner. Then Christmas morning DH and I do Christmas presents by ourselves, (my favorite part of Christmas). After that we will head to my parents for gifts and from there to MILs.

  • Staying local, my sister's for eve and day which is 30 min away, i refuse to travel with the baby for the holiday or spend hours in the car trying to see everyone. H and I agreed that if we hosted Thanksgiving we would see everyone at once. Plus we will see his dad's family the weekend before Christmas and make arrangements to see his mom at some point as well! (Sometimes his sister will do Christmas and she lives 5 hours away in MD, or his mom's family in CT and they are 2 hours away, we have spent many holidays in the car i feel like it and i've been looking forward to waking up on christmas morning and being in my PJs with the baby and enjoying the holiday not in a mad rush)

  • @mpjf1001The 5 months photo is aborable.  I love those giant brown eyes!!
  • Definitely visiting both sets of parents that day. No clue what time or plans yet. I've learned in more recent years how spontaneous my in laws are.

  • @consciousdear88 mine IL's are like that too. I can only tolerate one holiday a year with them. Luckily they live across the country from my family.

  • We do Christmas Eve at my in laws, they do a big party every year with Santa and gifts for everyone. My parents are coming this year up here for the party!!! We will go back to our house ( about 40 mins away from in laws) and wake up Christmas Day with my parents. Hoping one of my sisters comes up too. After gifts and breakfast my parents (& us if I'm feeling ok) will travel down to Long Island to be with the rest of the family.
  • I'm not sure when we're doing Christmas with H's family. We live in the same city as us, but they got us for Thanksgiving day, so my family gets us Christmas day. I assume we'll go up on Christmas Eve, but we haven't really discussed it yet! My parents are in Nashville, 2 hours away from Chattanooga where we live.

  • @WillyH19  That may be an advantage having that kind of a distance. Both sets for me are at least a half hour away from each other.

In my head as I was typing my original post, all that was coming to mind was what happened during the family's trip around Easter time to Ohio. DH and I tagged along with his parents to go visit his aunt, uncle and cousins. What my MIL failed to mention to me or DH until we were already packed and physically sitting in the car in a different state was the fact that his relatives had no clue we were coming. She called them on her cell phone and told them we were up the road. I could not believe it at all.

  • Christmas day is at our house! I'm super excited to host it!

We're still figuring out Christmas Eve. That will either be at my IL's (1/2 mile away) or my family's (15 minutes away).

  • Christmas Eve will be spent with my family. Christmas morning will be spent with His family. We'll have Christmas Day lunch with my Grandma and family and then it's back to my MIL's for Christmas Day dinner. Thankfully everyone lives in the same small town, but it's a pain. Hopefully once we have kids, we can just have everyone come to us, haha.
