questions for doctor

so my monthly doctors appt. was moved up to tomorrow. I'm so excited! not that anything will really happen at a 16 week checkup.

anywhoo I never have any questions to ask the dr. when I go in.  do you ask questions every time? I am going to ask this time about my RLP but otherwise i've got nothing.

Re: questions for doctor

  • I'm just going to ask about the side sleeping we discussed here last week. I mostly sleep in my stomach, but now that I've really been paying attention, I do sleep on my back quite a bit too. Anywhoo, do you maybe have any questions about her labor/delivery procedures, recommendations for pediatricians?

I don't always have questions but I go to the Doctor A LOT and I have a phone nurse service that calls me once a week.  Here are a few questions that may or may not be good to ask:

    - Ask about the birth process (do you do breech extractions? Are there shared recovery rooms or single recovery rooms? What level NICU do you have? etc.)  I wanted to know this stuff early because I would have changed facilities if I didn't like the answer.

    - If you plan on BFing you can ask about lactation consultants and hospital grade pumps.

    - You can ask about any classes you might want to take (nutrition, BFing, birthing, parenting etc.)

    - Ask about any medication you might want to take (What if I get a headache, is Tylenol okay? What about Acid Reflux, are Tums okay?)

    - Next time I go I'm asking about travel restrictions and I want to ask if my weight gain is within the normal range.

  • thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions!
  • I usually have a couple of questions to ask.  My last monthly appt was at 14 weeks and my main question was just when could I schedule the anatomy scan.

This time, I don't really have questions to ask.  But if I have an important question come up, I usually just call the nurse and ask instead of waiting for the appt.

  • If this is your 16 week appointment, I would ask about scheduling the anatomy scan. When I go next week for mine, I will schedule it since my Dr. schedules a/s's for between 18-20 weeks.
