Where do you get your work clothes? (NBR)

So I am leaving the land of scrubs and bedpans and heading to a non clinical nursing job. I'm very excited about this change (pay raise, better hours/perks) but cannot tell you how much I will miss throwing on scrubs (which really are essentially pi's) and heading out the door. I need to invest in some professional attire pieces and wondered what your favorite stores/brands were. I don't need suits, just business professional if that makes sense. Thanks for your suggestions!

Re: Where do you get your work clothes? (NBR)

  • Mostly Ann Taylor Loft outlet, Express, Gap outlet, and NY and Company. Sometimes Target, Old Navy, JC Penny and Banana Republic outlet. I specify outlet on those that I could because I probably couldn't afford to shop in the regular store and get much.

  • Anne Taylor LOFT, Target, H&M, with the occasional Macy's or Belk thrown in.  I used to like NY & Company, but I feel like their quality has gone downhill.

I agree. I still like their shirts, but I hate the new pants. They shrink really bad, even though I wash them cold and don't dry them.

The Limited for pants and button-down shirts, J.Crew/J.Crew Factory/Madewell or Ann Taylor/Loft for cardigans, dresses, and straight skirts, Anthro for a few interesting pieces here and there, Modcloth for dresses and shoes (although the dresses are often too short and I end up returning a lot), DSW for shoes, Target for basics like tanks to wear under things (but I get the majority of my casual clothes from here).  Most of my jewelry comes from Target, etsy, or Stella & Dot unless Husband buys me the good stuff.
I used to get a lot of things at H&M but now I can't stand going through the crowded store, waiting in lines to try stuff on cause their sizes aren't consistent for me, then waiting in line again to pay.  I'd rather spend a little more, get something a little higher quality, than spending 2 hours trying not to chew off my own arm.

  • JCPenney and New York & Co. I'm petite and they seem to be the only place that has clothes that actually fit me. Really love the Worthington brand at JCP. Nice pants and basic tops.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • Macy's, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic outlet, Nordstrom Rack, Kohl's, DSW for shoes.

  • TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Loft, NY&Co, Macy's, occasionally Target or Old Navy.
  • Ann Taylor Loft, The Limited, Banana Republic

  • Banana Republic, JCrew, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Boden (online), ASOS (online).  Modcloth (online) is hit or miss for me but they have a great return policy.  And Anthropologie now has petites which is good but I don't always love their stuff.

I stick to those stores almost all the time because they are the only places I can find my size and where my size also comes in petite.

  • Lane Bryant because I'm a fattie.  I also shop at Walmart.

  • Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Nordstrom Rack, White House Black Market

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I work as a Clinical Project Manager now, so I feel ya on missing the scrubs! I get most of my pants from Dockers Petite online. I am only 4'11, so it was great to find pants that I don't need to hem and that don't come with the elastic old lady waistband. :) I love LOFT. I can sometimes find things at Target or Old Navy, but they don't last long since the quality is kinda poor. I love Talbots, when I can find stuff on sale or clearance.

  • Probably 90% of my wardrobe is from LOFT!  I love it so much!  (If you sign up for their mailing list, you will get lots of coupons.  I never buy full-price from there.)
  • Jcrew, br, nordstrom, local small boutiques.
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

  • 80% of my wardrobe staples are from Torrid (the plus size store) and I fill in the other 20% at Target, Old Navy, and Ross.

  • I love the Banana Republic outlet.  They will probably have some really great deals after Christmas.  I get a lot of my clothes from Loft and some basics from Target.  My work clothes could use some updating.

  • I'm jealous of all the success people have with shopping for clothes at Target. Everything seems to be too small for me.

When I needed office attire, I shopped a lot at H&M, Suzy Shier, Dynamite and Rickis

  • I wish Target had a petite section.  I have trouble with their clothing fitting right for the most part, but I do love that their jeans come in 'short'.

  • I have good luck at Target with underthings and t-shirts, and sometimes cardigans and dresses.  I gave up on Target pants/skirts a long time ago.  Their maternity line (esp online) has been good for me as well.

  • I'm not a huge fan of Target clothes.  I rarely find anything I like there.

  • Suzy Shier, Reitmans, Le Chateau (nice stuff but pricey IMO), H&M, and Sears.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm hoping Santa brings me gift cards this year :)

  • H&M doesn't even carry my size. :(
