I'm sick.

I had planned on calling out to take today as a mental health day.  Sure enough, I'm actually sick.

Winter concert was Monday night, final before school rehearsals were Tuesday and Wednesday, and my group performed at a school event last night.  Meaning that today was the first day I could take for ME since before Thanksgiving.  Yesterday I woke up and wasn't feeling great.  Thankfully, my lessons yesterday allowed me to sit.  I started feeling really crappy after scarfing down dinner before the kids performed, and it only got worse when I got home.  I put in for a sub for today and took a bath, and it became harder to breathe and I was achy.  Like crazy.  Temp was high for me (in the mid 98s) but no fever.

Well, it started climbing overnight.  I took tylenol overnight and thought this thing broke because I was sweating like crazy.  Took my temp a few times and by the morning it was over 99.  Crap.  And I was freezing.  Double crap.

I took another dose of tylenol and a hot bath and laid down.  Took my temp after a bit and it's dropping.  But I'm a little worried.

Advise?  Thoughts?  I have chicken soup for lunch but I am home alone and DH has his holiday party in the city tonight.  The only thing keeping me from going crazy is that LO was kicking up a storm this morning so I know she's ok.

  • Thanks ladies. I called my OB they said to keep hydrated and to see my primary care physician (who is also pregnant!), and to let them know if I'm prescribed anything.  I have an appt at 2:15 - but I don't even want to leave the house.

  • oh no! I hope you feel better soon. def take a nap and call the dr just to let them know whats going on.
  • I had this a few weeks ago. I called my dr. They said the most important thing was fluids and rest. Tylenol for the aches and fever, but the most concerning part is if you aren't getting enough fluids.

  • Well, I went to the doc.  No flu.  It's some sort of bacteria infection.  I started on a z-pac and slept, but when i woke up I was outside the tylenol window and my temp spiked to 100.4.  Granted, I was under the covers in a sweatshirt and sweatpants and socks because I was so cold when I got home and I am sure that wasn't helping.  I've had applesauce and water to try to get some fluids into me and am now resting downstairs.  LO is still kicking away so at least that.  I'm also not to go to work tomorrow so that I basically get 4 days to recover.

DH has his holiday party tonight and my mom isn't picking up the phone.  Have you ever just wanted someone to take care of you?  That's about where I am right now.

  • I hope the z-pack kicks the bug's butt and you feel better soon!
  • Thanks, ladies.  The tylenol and z-pac seem to be helping - temp dropped significantly.
