Re: QOTD 12/13

  • No, but I do get a yearly bonus in March for performance the year before.

      Anniversary

  • We have gotten an end of the year bonus in the past, but I'm not sure if it will happen this year.

  • Kind of. Every year around Thanksgiving/Christmas, the company president gives each worker $100 in gift cards for the local grocery store chain. It helped make a big dent in my present purchases this year. Since they sell gift cards at the store, I bought cards for people or for online shopping using my grocer gift cards. Then for every $50 in gift cards purchased, I get 10 cents off a gallon of gas at the gas station the store runs. Win/win.

  • I'm feeling lucky that I even get paid these days...

Seriously, it varies from year to year. This year? No.
  • Chad usually does, but instead...this year he got at 15% raise!!!!!!!!!!  We just found out yesterday--so exciting!

  • LOL nope. I'm a social worker, we don't get fancy things like bonuses. H does, though.

  • Hmm I hope that didn't sound "braggy"...but the first 10 months of our marriage we didn't have 2 pennies to rub together, so just being able to pay the bills feels awesome--a bonus feels like winning the lotto.

  • Nope.

I'm still a grad student, so my stipend doesn't really change unless the university feels like it needs to keep up with inflation and adds $500 to our stipend occasionally.

H is a physician's assistant, his hospital has been treating employees like crap for the past year and 1/2. No  bonus for him either. I can't wait until he starts his new job!

  • I get quarterly bonuses.  Nothing big at the end of the year, just a $25 gift card for groceries.  DH just started at a new company in May, so we'll see if he gets one.  Fingers crossed!
  • Not sure since this is my first yr with the company

  • We usually get a 25 dollar gift certificate to a local butcher shop for a turkey or something. Don'r know what's going to happen this year since that butcher shop closed. We also get lottery tickets, though I don't think any of us has ever won more than 5-10 bucks.

  • I literally just got pulled into a meeting and was told we get a $500 bonus, on top of out quarterly bonus if we make 110% of goal.  Hello overtime!!!

  • We don't get bonuses, but it's my business so I can pay myself a little extra here and there if needed/wanted.  Although, since we have a company amex, we get to take advantage of the points and get gift cards.  We've definitely taken advantage of that!

  • Bonus what's that? They claim they offer bonuses every year but I've never seen one so they are keeping them for the big wigs.

  • This is my first year at the company so I'm not sure. We did just get $100 gift card to local grocery store at thanksgiving which was nice.
  • We don't get bonuses at all. I have only gotten one in my life and it was $100 I think.

  • No.  We're not sure about H's company.  He got hired there around this time last year, so he wouldn't have gotten one.  If he gets a bonus it'll be a surprise.
  • Bahahahahahaha no.

We are suppose to get a yearly cost of living raise (2-4%), but Congress took that away in 2010. That was their "pay cut" they talked about during the whole budget thing. No idea if we will get it this year.

No idea for H, since this is the first year there. Last year the company he worked for gave us a turkey.

  • @mana8503 the budget deal will allow the 1 percent pay increase in January.

  • @jwrenne - it's still up in the air with the continuing resolution.

    http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/wp/2013/11/12/key-2014-financial-figures-for-federal-workers-looking-mixed/

"President Obama already has indicated his intent to pay a 1 percent raise if no law is enacted by the end of the calendar year to specify a raise. While Congress could yet set a different number, including zero, the temporary funding measure extends beyond that deadline, into mid-January."

I know they passed a bill in the house last week, but I haven't read anything about COLA yet.
