Manic Monday

Today is a manic Monday for me.  I had a 4 day weekend, and was dreading work today.  But it snowed, and my usual 40-60 minute commute took over an hour and a half.  Blahhhh.  No accident, just people crawling on the interstate.  I understand being cautious.  But not going over 20mph is a little crazy.

Anyways... Saturday was my birthday!  I went over to my mom's house with my aunts and a few cousins and we baked Christmas cookies.  Then DH had his work Christmas party downtown that night.  Didn't really feel like my birthday, but that's okay.

And, my brother called me just after midnight, 28 times and left me 28 voicemails.  They started out just saying "happy birthday", but then turned into each year of my life, what I was doing, what he remembers, etc.  It was really sweet!  Plus, I could tell they were thought of on the spot because he would kinda talk through each one, like:  "Number 26. You were 26 when you got married. But wait, I guess you were only 25 because your wedding was in October.  So I should've said that for 25..."  I thought it was really sweet!!  :)

Yesterday, I didn't do anything.  We were going to go to Christmas at the zoo.. which I thought would be pretty since we had snow.  But decided not to.

Re: Manic Monday

  • I need another weekend! I had a busy one - coffee/dessert with a friend on Friday evening, shopping on Saturday, games night with DH, my sister and sister-in-law on Saturday evening, volunteering on Sunday afternoon and then dinner at MIL's on Sunday evening. In between all that, I did laundry, wrote a freelance article and cleaned the house a bit.

My MIL drives me nuts! I tried to get out of dinner as I was so busy already and really just didn't want to go, but DH wanted me there as I wasn't at the last dinner (because MIL and BIL changed the plans around at the last minute). Anyway, so at dinner, she says "how are your jobs going boys?" to DH and my BIL. And then as an aside after she realized what she had said, she added "... and Lea". I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving (in October for us) and I started a new job in October and she didn't even ask how it was going or make mention of it. Plus when she was dishing out dessert, she said "Let's let Lea choose first as she's the one who most wants to have her way". OMFG. She is probably one of the most selfish people I know and she says that...

  • @ky29 - that is so cute what your brother did!  Glad you had a good birthday!

I took last Friday off - started some baking, wrapped a couple of gifts, and went to lunch with a friend.  Didn't get nearly all that I wanted to get accomplished done.  I had to go into work at my part time job from 6pm-11pm.

Saturday, all I did was bake and bake.  I ended up having work at my part time job from 8pm-11pm.  I wasn't planning on that.  I was up til 2am finishing up stuff.

Sunday, I had Christmas #1.  It was with my dad's side of the family.  DH couldn't go - he had to work.

This week, will be just as busy.  Hoping after Christmas, I'm able to slow down.  I'm really needing to get back to the gym, but I don't see that happening until after Christmas. :(

  • That's so sweet Ky.

I had a 4 day weekend starting Thursday. Cleaned Thursday. Then Friday we packed,DH had an apointment with the oral surgan, and we drove to Denton for my cousins graduation. Saturday went to the graduation and lounged around the hotel. Sunday we visited a good friend in Grapevine. We didn't realize how much we missed him until we visited. Then drove back home and caught the end of the Dallas/ Green Bay game. That was an amazing end to the game. Anyone see it?
  • Agreed, Ky, what an awesome brother!

Friday night we had a call from our realtor that somebody wanted to see our house Saturday morning. The place was a pigsty so I went home from work and cleaned immediately and all night. I was pretty upset -- our listing expires tomorrow and I knew nothing would come from it. Saturday I had to judge a cookie contest at a farmers market, and it was annoying. I hadn't started holiday shopping, so that's what I did Saturday afternoon. I was exhausted that night but H's family wanted to take me out for a belated b-day celebration. I was passed out at 10:30.

Sunday I baked and wrapped gifts all day. It was actually very enjoyable. I am one of those obsessive-compulsive weirdos about gift-wrapping. It takes me forever but every gift must look perfect. And I do not believe in gift bags. Anyway, Is this week almost over?
