Random christmas poll

How much do real Christmas trees cost where you live?  Obviously I know there's a range, but what's average?  Just curious.

I'm in RI, and I think that about $35-$40 is average.

Re: Random christmas poll

  • I have no idea, I have never bought a live christmas tree.

  • They range anywhere from $35-$200, depending on where you buy them.

    Our was $80.

$25-85 in NJ.  We chop our own tree and I think those are on the more expensive end.  Ours was $25 because it was still tagged from last year mwahaha.  It was supposed to be $45 but they forgot to take last year's tag off and I guess the tree grew since last year into a more expensive tree!

Anyway, I think they start around $30 when you cut them yourself and around $25 for the precut ones that you buy on the side of the highway (but even those can easily be $45).

Between $25 and $200 in southern Maryland. The range is pretty wide. I guess I'd say average is around $100

  • I actually have no idea. I had the same faux tree for 7 years and it finally died last year. Since I'm spending the holiday sans princess this year I didn't even bother with a tree but if I did, I would have no idea what to expect. I think I'll be in for some sticker shock next year!

  • I'm in LA and it's between $20 and $100 depending on where you go, what kind of tree you get and how big.  We have an 8 foot Douglas fir and it was $30 at Lowes, but if we'd gone to a tree lot or gotten a different kind of tree, it could have easily been $75.  We used to go cut our own down when I was a kid, but those are crazy expensive, like close to $100.  It was always fun, but not for that much money!!

  • DH and I have an artificial but my parents each year buy about a 7-8ft Douglas in the Pittsburgh area and I believe it costs them somewhere between $50-$80.

  • 45-150 in MA.  We bought the $45 one this year.  Never again.  I've been watering it faithfully and the needles keep dropping.  The type we had last year dropped minimally.   Too bad I can't remember which one it was.  Fraser maybe? I think I have a Balsam this year.  Or maybe it's the other way around.  I can't remember!

  • I'd say $35-$40 is pretty average.  I'm in OH

  • We got a Balsam Fir for $45. It was grown in Quebec but we got it at a nursery in Southern Ontario. We cut a tree for my parents in the GTA this weekend, it was $40 Fraser Fir.
  • We usually get ours from Lowe's or Home Depot and they seem to run from $25 - $85. This year we picked a cute noble fir that was about $45. I think they're more expensive at the little Christmas tree set-ups with slides and games that take the place of pumpkin patches.

  • Ours was $45, but the ones the boy scouts are selling in front of my daughter's school are $90.

  • $25-$200 in West Michigan too. We paid $25 for a Groupon that allowed us to cut our 7ft blue spruce. Normally that tree would have been $50 (which is what we paid the same place in years past).

  • You can get one by the side of the road for $25-$40. If you want the whole horse drawn sleigh, hot cocoa, cut your own tree hoopla you're gonna spend at least $100 if not $200 depending on how big it is.

  • It depends on where you go. One of the larger Christmas Tree farms by our house charges $50 for a pretty large tree. The place I went to last year was just $30.

Buy another faux one after christmas on sale!  :)
  • I haven't bought a tree in a few years but the last one we bought was $40 and we live in Maine for crying out loud.  We invested in a nice fake tree.

  • Ours was maybe $35 or $40. I think that's pretty standard for cut-your-own trees, but I may be wrong because we have never looked on the price for a huge one. They might double that?
