  • This year we didn't buy gifts at all for anyone. Fa la la la la it's going to be a boring Christmas at our house.

  • I voted paid with credit cards... But to put it in better context, 99% of everything we buy is on a credit card. We then just pay off the cards every month.
We do the same thing.  We were actually able to get about half of our gifts from the points we've accumulated over the last couple of months.  So, we charge everything that we can and pay it off each month.

  • I work as a server, so I most always have cash. So we try to pay mostly cash. If need be we will put it on a credit card. Uhhgg, I am still not done. So much more to do, so little time...

  • Since we are trying to pay off our credit card debt, I am trying really hard to not put any more debt onto them!  In the past I did use them though.

  • I build up a savings for Christmas spending each year, and if I go over that amount I just use my debit card. I start shopping in October so it doesn't hit our account all at once.

  • This is the first year I'm being 100% committed to using my debit/check card for every gift purchase. I paid off my CC back in May, and I don't earn points for using it, so I've just stopped using it altogether (unless something significant comes up unexpectedly, which happened once over the summer, but then I immediately paid it off with my next paycheck).

DH's CC earns him points, though, and we've gotten some great rewards from them, so he may or may not be buying gifts with his CC and then paying them off right away (he's working on paying down his balance right now, which got pretty out of control, so I'm not sure he's using the card at all if he can avoid it for the time being).

  • I voted CC with some cash.  I order 90% of our gifts online, so that all goes on a CC and then gets paid off every pay.  The other 10% is bought in person and with debit.

  • We're not doing gifts this year.  This will be the first Christmas DH and I have actually spent together in the same place so we'll just make a nice dinner.  My parents told us not to buy gifts for them since we just got married in July and spent a ton of money on that plus moving myself and the horse out to Montana afterwards.  Last year I put it on the credit card and paid it off at the end of the month or if I had cash I used that first.

  • We also buy it all on the credit card for the points and then pay it off.

  • I use my debit card for everything. If we don't have the funds available at the time we want to buy something then we don't buy it. I have a few credit cards but very rarely use them because I got myself into a lot of debt when I was younger and don't even want to take the chance of that happening again.
