GTKY: Scary

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? How long ago was it?

Re: GTKY: Scary

  • On our honeymoon in Jamaica, H and I got way into scuba diving. Well, for my skills test, we were 20m below the surface and one of the skills we had to do was take our mouthpiece out for 5s and put it back in. When I did that, I didn't close my mouth all the way over the mouthpiece when I put it back so when I took my first breath, I sucked in a ton of seawater. I was truly panicking, screaming into my mouthpiece and flailing and trying to surface, but my instructor was able to calm me down. I fixed the mouthpiece and we continued with a chill dive. I really thought I was going to die. I started crying a little just now remembering it.

      Anniversary
  • About 2 and a half years ago, H and I were on the highway (Going West on 90 from Lake County towards downtown for all my NE OH girls)  and we hydroplaned... we somehow managed to not hit the wall we were RIGHT NEXT TO (thankfully H is a great driver) and dodge all oncoming traffic. It was horrible. I was never afraid to drive in the rain but I am now... I am getting better but it is hard.

  • Right before H and I got engaged we were still in college and were taking the same class 2 days a week. The college is local but in a neighboring town so we got on the interstate headed home I was driving and we were approaching an on ramp and cars were trying to merge. We were behind an 18 wheeler and I was trying to move over but there was no room so a car decided to jump in front of the 18 wheeler causing him to slam on his brakes. I in turned slammed on mine while a car decided to jump between us. My car at the time didn't have ABS so my brakes were as locked as I could get them. We ended up with my hood under the 18 wheeler but not touching since my car was so small also there was a truck next to us who had almost gone over the side which was about a 20 foot drop.

My heart was racing so fast!! I will never forget that day.
  • I think my episode in the ER this February when they had to shock me and told me I should of probably been dead.

  • It was 3yrs ago. I was on my way to work it was november & it was a bit icy. Well I was on a frontage road it is right next to HWY 41 in Wisconsin. I was going around a turn i hit a patch of black ice. I tried to regain control of my car but i ended up going into a ditch at the time all there was, was a ditch & a fence the separated the HWY & the frontage rd. so I ended up flipping once i hit the ditch & end ended up on the HWY going south my car was totalled.when i was
in the air I prayed that I would end up on my tires. I did thank God also if i would have flipped the other way I would have died or injured severely. Also thankfully that no one hit me since I did end up on the hwy. That was the scariest thing ever!

  • I rolled my car almost 2 years ago. Tried to slow down on the highway, hit black ice and headed for the ditch, I knew better than to slam on the breaks so I rode it out thinking oh well I'll end up in the ditch and will have to get pulled out. Well, I hit the shoulder and flipped, and I was going over I remember thinking 'this can be over any time now'. I landed the right way up. I was about 20 minutes from where I lived and some very nice people drove me home. I called h after I landed and very calmly said 'I just rolled my car', he thought I was joking at first. I didn't actually cry until I saw h when that guy dropped me off. My shoulders and neck are atill screwed up from it. :(
