GTKY: When

How old were you when you found out Santa wasn't real? How did you find out?

Re: GTKY: When

  • I was too old! haah! Like 12. I did not want to give it up. I think for the last few years I knew but was scared if my parents knew I knew I wouldn't get presents. haah! I don't really remember how it really happened but obviously being that old I am assuming all the kids at school!

  • I don't remember when I figured out it wasn't real but I am pretty sure the boys at school clued me in. Jerks! :)

  • I was like 10 but I didn't tell my parents till I was like 12. I came in one night because I "heard" him and saw my mom instead. Also she never ate the cookies she just put them back on the plate.

H however had it ruined at 6 or 7 by MIL. She said she didn't want him to be embarrassed at school when the kids told him that Santa wasn't real so she went ahead and told him.

  • I don't remember, but I think it was probably when I figured out santas handwriting and my dads were an awful lot alike. I don't remember it being traumatic or anything though

  • I was also 12! My friends at school told me and I defended Santa like I was his only supporter. I didn't believe it until I asked my parents and they fessed up to it. Then I told my 9 year old sister (which I think is a more appropriate age) and she told our 4 year old sister. It was a sad Christmas that year.

  • I don't remember the exact moment I stopped believing, but I do remember as a kid me and my older sister and younger brother would always go into our parents' room to show them what santa brought in our stockings. I remember the time when I was telling them with my brother about what I got, but I felt silly doing so because I knew they were the ones who got the gifts.
