  • We have one tomorrow--my first one.  It's pretty fancy apparently--I'm looking forward to it!

  • I do!  We get a half day in December to attend.  Usually it's at a restaurent, food and a grinch gift swap.  It's usually pretty fun and only 2 hours.  Pretty Tame.  Sometimes my cws and I plan something afterwards, like this year we saw Catching fire.

H work doesn't, at least not that I know of.

  • This afternoon is our "annual luncheon". Very boring, no booze, no dancing, no holidays mentioned because they are Orthodox Jewish. But I only work til 12:30, go to the lunch and usually am home by 4.

DH's boss takes us out for dinner and a show every year. This year it got snowed out, and we'll go in January sometime.

  • My department has a holiday party in December of January. It used to be at a really great Italian restaurant, but for the past few years it's been at this crappy sports bar with even crappier food. I haven't gone for the past 2 years because I honestly do not want to hang out with faculty after I leave the lab. There's one professor who is a total jerk and he gets drunk every year at this party. He starts talking out of his ass and for some reason does not like me. One year, he said some really mean things to me. I haven't gone to this party since.

I don't think DH has a holiday party...he's never mentioned anything. There's a hospital gala once a year, but it's $$$ to go since it's a fundraiser. Out of our budget!

  • Last year we had a holiday lunch at a local restaurant. The admins in our office picked the restaurant, the food was very good.

This year, we have heard nothing from our CEO. So I'm guessing nothing will happen. Which is fine, because I spend enough time with these people, I don't need to spend an awkward lunch with them too. Oh, and our gem of an office manager showed up 2 hours late last year 8-|   She has absolutely zero respect for anyone else's time. We had to wait for her to get there to order.  Sorry that turned into a bit of a mini-rant.

We have a very small staff of only 11 people in the association and two of them are remote workers who live in California.

DH and I work for the same company. We had Christmas parties the last two years. They rented a hall, catered dinner, had drinks and all sorts of appetizers and dancing with a DJ. All who attended also got a gift card.
Unfortunately some people ruined it for everyone. So this year they had a catered dinner in the conference room. I didn't get to go since I was sick Monday.

  • Ours is today. We got a few trays of food that the big boss bought for us and then we all chipped in $10. Sometimes we get to play games in the afternoon but the past few years we have either not been allowed to or no one really wanted to.

  • Since we are a small company and family based, we usually just do a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant.  This year, we went to Ruth's Chris and it was really nice.  We've hired two new people in the past couple months and are hoping to hire a few more in the next few months, so next years Christmas party may be different.

  • My department has one - it was last Friday.  I work in academia, so it was pretty tame.  The faculty all bring their kids and "Santa" was there.

    H's work doesn't have a party.

  • We do a potluck, but nothing special.  DH's holiday party was earlier this month.  They bought all their employees and spouses dinner.  It was at a pretty expensive place, it was delicious.

We have a potluck on the actual holiday (for those "lucky" enough to be working). There is usually a ton of food but we obviously cannot all eat at once since we need to keep staff on the unit. Fortunately, everyone is really good about covering for their coworkers and telling them to go eat something! I won't be working Christmas this year, but I worked Thanksgiving and it was great! We will have a party at New Years too! I would say there are probably a good 10-15 of these big potluck dinners a year between holidays, birthdays and baby showers!! I'm wondering if I will be getting one soon :-)
  • We had a company wide one for families, etc. last week. It was nice!

We're having our department one today at 3 PM, and as of then, I am on vacation. I CAN'T WAIT.

  • DH I both work for the same company but different departments.  Almost all of the departments have some type of potluck between Thanksgiving and Christmas where the department pays for the "meat" and everyone else brings a dish.

  • I'm leaving for mine shortly! It's free dinner. Usually the girls leave their H at home and we sit around with the bosses. There's also secret santa. H has one, but it's usually beer and pizza. We don't attend each other's Christmas parties.

  • My school usually has a breakfast.  Two agencies that work in our school provided us with breakfast this week, so we had a lunch yesterday instead.  We had a few different sandwiches and salads.  A coworkers husband made roast pork and rice and beans for us, too.  It was incredible!

H's company is small and does a lunch for them, which was also yesterday.
  • This is my first yr with the company and they went lunch at a fondue restaurant for like 4 hrs Monday....the same day I was out sick again. So bummed. And then I found our we don't get bonuses this year so FML. I get nothing! Ha

  • The kids left at a half day today and so we went out bowling afterwards. They served deli trays, chips and salsa, etc. H's work did a lunch thing yesterday, but he was at home sleeping after having worked 27 hours.

  • This is my first year at this company apparently they have done holiday parties in the past but no one planned anything for this year. Yesterday we did a potluck during lunch and called that our holiday party. My husband was supposed to have a dinner tomorrow night but due to no money in the budget was cancelled today :-(
