Re: Thankful Thursday

  • That is an awesome thankful! I am so sorry for the crazyness with your maternity leave that is messed up that there was a "miscommunication" and I feel like they should have to make up for it somehow. It is even more messed up that you wouldn't have found out if you hadn't asked. Are you thinking about SAH now or about seeking a new job?

Oh and I don't mind you posting at all! I know I am a west coaster so my posts can be kind of late for the east coasters.

  • I am thankful....

For my daughter. Yesterday I was super irritable and every time I felt myself getting angry I would grab her and give her squeezes and kisses or even tickles to get her laughing. Kills the anger every time.

That the urologist was so accomadating. I saw him last Thursday and got a fancy scan Monday and now I am seeing him again today. That is a quick timeline for a doctor! I am hoping for some sort of answer today.

That it is almost Christmas! We have something Christmas related to do every day until Christmas starting with the cookie decorating play date tomorrow :)

That Ava Nichol totally gets the concept of the Advent Calendar (well not the countdown part because she doesn't understand days/weeks/Christmas yet) but how she gets one present a day when Daddy gets home. Yesterday she even said Calendar Please! We have had a couple meltdowns about wanting another day but they have been minimal. I love it!

  • I'm thankful that I only have 1 more day of work before my leave/Christmas break. I'm thankful that I have made some progress and am praying that I can go ahead and have my baby soon, because I am hurting bad today. I'm thankful that my husband is so awesome.

    I'm thankful for....

    - My H and how freakin' amazing and supportive he is.  I don't know what I'd do without him.

    - My mom finally starting to "get it" that Christmas isn't fun for DH and I because of the drama.  She's laying off the guilt trip this year.  She's finally getting that I tend to make myself sick over it all and, now being pg, she's realizing how not good that is.  Yay for small miracles!

    - Even though I have to work later than usual today...it's still been a pretty easy day so far.  And we have a potluck, too!

    - Lotion.  My hands are so incredibly dry they hurt.  Lotion has been my friend.

  • I'm thankful...

    - for DH, as always.  Yesterday, out of the blue, he said, "Among other things, I'm excited to play with Play Doh again!"  I was like, "Huh?!"  He said, "When the baby comes.  I get to do things like play with Play Doh again.... and that's awesome!"  It was really cute.

    - that I have a department meeting from 9-11 tomorrow (which will include breakfast and a gift swap) and then our company holiday party starting at 1 at a really nice Italian restaurant, so I probably won't be working much tomorrow. Yay for the weekend almost being here!

  • @pandpmeant2b that sounds like an awesome "work" day! And I will second the Yay for it almost being the weekend!

I am thankful for my parents. They have been refinishing my kitchen so I can actually use it properly and stop using their kitchen.

I am thankful for DH. He is such a sweetheart and can make me smile no matter what. I also love how he doesn't get annoyed over my consistent mind changing. He agreed to a home plan last night, and after much discussion with my parents, it looks like we may move forward with home building some time next year. I'm also thankful he is patient in a home buying decision.

I am thankful for my Lexi. She is such an amazing little girl and I couldn't imagine my life without her. She is so lovable. Everyday, she gives me at least 10 random hugs and kisses and says "I love you mommy" in the sweetest voice ever.

Seeking a new job. I'm currently trying to get a paper trail going about filing for STD. This is in case they let me go for any reason for this, I'll then qualify for unemployment. He said he will "look into STD" but I'm going to be all over him until it is resolved. I'm so, so done.

    being here!
Hahaha!  My H is the same way.  When we were registering, he registered for this one toy and I commented that it looked like a dog toy.  His response?  "Well I'll play with it."

  • @wiggyslilsis - thanks. I'm so flustered today. Job hunt will start week two of leave. I was so mad earlier (still am) that I told DH that I should just go back to working at Target.

This was the straw that broke the camel's back. In the past 6 months, they let go of a ton of people/had people quit and never refilled the positions (currently, I am handling FT two other people's jobs because they don't want to replace them), I'm highly taken advantage of, which I expected since part of my title is admin assistant. They let go of two people and combined the admin assistant and marketing associate positions to create my job - so technically, just myself is now replacing 4 people that were working FT in dedicated positions.

Also, financially, this job doesn't make sense. I have a 45-minute drive each way and am working 45-50 hours a week. After daycare comes out, I will be making LESS than what I was making a month working at Target and daycare really isn't that bad here ($210). I was already thinking about leaving. This solidified the fact that I'm going to.

That's understandable. The way you phrased it sounded like you were being forced to leave, not that you wanted to leave. Good luck with the job hunt.

  • @tdmd09 - I see where you saw that. I was just so angry at the time that I couldn't even see straight. After much back and forth, they agreed to 2 weeks LTD (they canceled their STD policy as of 12/1 apparently - wouldn't that have been nice to know?) and the other 4 weeks unpaid. If I want to take anymore (this includes if I get a csection), I need a doctor's note and it'll be unpaid. Still not happy, but I guess better than nothing.
