Re: FFFC

  • FIL stopped by yesterday with gifts for everyone except DH. DH was really hurt by this. I went to Walmart and got a gift card, had the cashier write his name on it, and slipped it into my gift while DH was at work and told him it fell out.

  • That's super sweet of you.  And a huge fail for your FIL.  How could he forget his own son?

  • I know FIL had to call MIL (they're divorced) and ask her what my DH and SIL birthdays (both in Nov) to send them a check for their birthdays. He called SIL on hers (she did also go into labor that day) but didn't call DH on his. Last two years in a row he has texted me "Happy Birthday" the day after DH's birthday.

They don't have a good relationship and I don't try to push, but I didn't like seeing DH so hurt. I do honestly feel it was FIL's girlfriend that did the shopping.

NOB, what a dickhead move! Even if you don't have a great relationship with your kid, if you're getting/bringing gifts to give everyone else, you damn well make sure there's one in there for the son as well! Ugh, your poor DH must have been so hurt. :( You're a great wifie for "fixing" FIL's oversight.

Mine: I've got a small bag of dark chocolate covered almonds and a Godiva peppermint-filled dark chocolate bar (gifts from my awesome coworkers) sitting on my desk, and I'm seriously considering eating them for breakfast...despite the fact I've noticeably (to me) gained a little weight and am feeling pretty darn crappy about it.

  • @nightmare_of_beauty You are such a sweet wife!

@luckyangel07 You are welcome to share said chocolates.

My FFC was brought on by bridget's "thumb sucking" post yesterday on GPM.  I sucked my thumb well into the 4th grade. I also still play with my hair when I'm frustrated or need help trying to fall asleep.  At least I don't still do the thumb sucking.

  • The guy sitting in front of me on the train right now is talking to himself. Both H and I have seen him on the train before, and the guy is certifiably nuts. Not really a confession, just more of a statement. lol
  • Oh, and my MIL texted me saying she wants to bring potato salad for Christmas dinner....who the hell eats potato salad at Christmas? [-(

That's sad because he is probably not able to get help.
  • @nightmare_of_beauty that was so sweet!

    My FFC is a XP.

I'm frustrated I can't figure out what to get DH this year. I always come up with the best presents that he hadn't even thought of but loves and I can't think of a damn thing this year. I mean, not that I'm competitive, but this may be the first year that I don't "win" Christmas because he appears to be really excited about what he got me.

Disclaimer: I do love everything DH gives me but I'm more creative and go off the list whereas he'd rather get me exactly what I want and go on list.

It is...we see him on the train at least once a week, and I'm trying to figure out what his deal is. He doesn't appear 'homeless', but he's usually wearing the same thing and talking to himself. And the thing is, if he was homeless, I'm not quite sure how he can afford to take the railroad because a monthly pass costs $242...a regular ticket during peak hours is like $15 one way. My H seems to think that maybe he does see a doctor in the city or something but I'm not sure. It's very strange.
  • He could just be known with the conductors and they let him ride. We have a few people who ride our trains like that. There is also an older kid (like 18-20) who they let announce stuff on the train and he acts like a junior conductor. He loves trains and doesn't have many friends. He's a really sweet kid!
Oh my gosh, how sweet of the conductors!

No, I've seen him bust out a monthly pass, so def not a free ride - plus the conductors on the railroad are pretty much hard asses when it comes to paying to ride the train....

My SIL just texted me asking to bring mashed potatoes. I told her no, only because already there's going to be 2 dishes with potatoes lol
