Holiday Round-Up!

Did you get any books for Christmas?  Which ones are you most excited about?

Did you give any books for Christmas?

Out of everything over the holidays, what was the most memorable?

image

Re: Holiday Round-Up!

  • I did get a book.  It's one of the historical fictions I've been wanting and I can't remember the damn name of it now.

I gave two books:  One a field guide to Bigfoot hunting and another of NJ day trips.  Both of them went to mh.

The most memorable thing for me was mh dressing up like Santa for my niece and nephew.

I didn't get or give any books this year.   My Christmas seemed to have more downs than ups this year.  I think I'd like to forget it happened and just hope for a better one next year!  I can't say that it's a memory per se, but everyone was so generous to Wes.  Now I just don't know what to do with it all!

  • I didn't get any books, but I got a Kindle Fire, which is even better.  I borrowed my first book from the Amazon Prime lending library last night!  (A Modern Witch)

I only gave books to my kids.  I totally cleaned out the school's book fair earlier in the month.  Claire was most excited about That's Not my Snowman and Sophie a book called Sophie's Squash (for obvious reasons).

My memory -- H gave me a $50 gift card for his sister to wrap about a week ago.  I thought I did, but when she unwrapped her presents it wasn't there.  I went home, looked all over the place.  No gift card.  I figure it was still in the bag, and the bag is this irridescent white color that would be easy to find... so I thought.  Nothing.  I looked for 2 hours before I started dissecting the trash, convinced I must have tossed it.  I went through all of the trash, all of the recycling.  It was all over the driveway.  I walked in the house, all forlorn, and looked up to see if they have a lost gift card policy posted on their website.  I know that if you lose gift cards from some stores they'll replace it, and H had the receipt emailed to him.  H walks in and asks if I looked in my purse.

Right there.  The whole time.  In my purse.  head:desk

  • I received a ton of books, a big crossword puzzle book, a book stamp, a B&N gift card, a hedwig bookmark.

I gave my mom Shanghai Girls and Dreams of Joy, she was very excited. I got my husband the Tyrion Lanister quote book and I got my brother a fancy copy of Dune.

Hmm I don't know what was most memorable, I'm honestly kind of glad it's all over, I'm exhausted.

  • I didn't get any books, but my sister gave me a personal library check out stamp.  She said it was because she has a stack of my books at her house that she never returns.

I bought my BIL the Mistborn Trilogy and the older niece and nephew got Leap Readers.

My niece named the baby doll I gave her after me.  When we were eating breakfast Christmas morning she took took the doll over to my sister and told her to hold baby "Lilah Lauren" and that she was her favorite. It was hilarious because my sister is always going on and on to the kids about being their favorite aunt.

    Good choice!

Didn't get or give any books this year. Christmas this year was a lot of fun because I got to spend time with both sides of my family & see people I don't see very often. Plus my aunt & uncle were up from FL so it was nice to see them so I guess that was the most memorable-just getting to see everyone & spend time with people in a relaxed way. It was also kind of fun to see my niece "beating up" on my husbad & giggling the whole time doing it

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • I did not get any books but I did get an amazon gift card and a B&N gift card. I'm currently shopping the B&N sale now.

I gave my sister Across the Universe, Eleanor and Park, and The Third Witch. My daughters got a few kids books.

The best part of Christmas was seeing my oldest kid open gifts. She even opened for the baby then made sure to bring everything over and show her! The next best part was finally being home after 5.5 days. I'm sooo done with the holidays!

Out of everything over the holidays, what was the most memorable? Just seeing all of my sisters. One has horrible anxiety and never leaves the house, but was able to come over and it meant so much to me to be able to see her and spend time with her. I only see her a few times a year even though she lives close by.

  • Did you get any books for Christmas?  Which ones are you most excited about?I didn't get any books but I also didn't get many presents.  We stopped exchanging with a lot of adults now that we have a kiddo.

Did you give any books for Christmas? DH got Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and my MIL got Winter of the World by Ken Follett.  I also give a book to every kid I give a present to soooo I gave a lot of books.  My nieces got Pete the Cat, Cat Secrets and Elephant and Piggie books,  My nephew got Elmo books and The Pigeon Loves Things that Go and Natalie got a shit ton of Sandra Boynton and other Christmas books.

Out of everything over the holidays, what was the most memorable? DH surprised me with tickets to the Billy Joel concert in August at Madison Square Garden.  I've been talking about how great it would be to go since I basically grew up on Billy Joel and know all of his songs.  We only did stockings so this was completely unexpected.  I'm so excited, but also a little nervous because it means I'm going to have to leave my baby for the night.  Granted she'll be a little over 1 at that point and I'll probably be ready for it by then but right now I'm she's only 5 months old and I only leave her with my DH since she refuses to take a bottle and I'm a SAHM.

  • None given, none received.

Everything was pretty quiet, nothing too memorable. It was the first Christmas that my nephew is old enough to "get" Christmas a little more, so it was fun to see him enjoy it.
