What are you using to watch tv shows?

I seriously want to lose cable so I was wondering what you ladies use as far as watching tv shows beyond the local channels?

Re: What are you using to watch tv shows?

  • We have a roku and stream Netflix, & hulu, Amazon Prime. A friend gave me access to his HBO GO :)  We ditched cable a year ago and never looked back. The only problem is college football. I'm sure there will be some sort of program to stream football at some point.
  • We have Netflix. Got rid of cable about 2 years ago. Thought we'd have a hard time and end up going back to cable after awhile but still going strong! Occasionally I watch Hulu to catch up on current shows (don't need hulu plus if you watch them on time). We also have a cheapo antenna but since we live in a brick building we only get like two channels if we're lucky.

  • We have Netflix ($7.99/month) and super basic cable (23 channels- $12/month)- it covers pretty much everything.

  • We have an antenna and stream Netflix.  We have our tv hooked up to our computer and recently did a pc upgrade to allow us to record tv (like tivo) for around $150.
  • We bought an HD antenna to instal on our roof, so we get about 15 channels for free over the air waves.  The antenna costs money but after that it's zero $$.  We also hook up a mac mini to our tv so we can watch the internet.  I don't miss cable at all.

  • Netflix and most of my shows I can watch online on the network website. But I don't closely follow a lot of shows, more for background noise, which Netflix is sufficient.
  • We use an Apple TV to stream Netflix and Hulu Plus. As others have pointed out you can get most of Hulu for free, but it's still a cheap payment compared to cable and we get good use out of it.

I wish any sort of cable that cheap was an option in our area! Only one company services my town so even basic starts around $40 after promotions expire.
  • We have a roku and pay for netflix ($7.99) + hulu plus ($7.99).  That's pretty much everything we could ever need.  We also have Amazon prime for shipping purposes, so we get free Amazon Prime movies that way too.  We've thought about cutting Netflix and just using Amazon, but it's not very expensive to have both and there isn't a complete overlap.  H really likes Netflix, so it's worth it to us to keep it.

It's through Time Warner- I feel like we might be the only people that still have it! Hopefully it won't go away  :)
