This book. THIS BOOK.

I was gasping/crying and so pissed off that I couldn't stop crying because I had to keep turning the book over and wiping my eyes so I could see the pages. I had to keep putting it down and just focus on stopping all the tears so I could read and find out what happens.

Confession: I wasn't into it much at first. I mean, it was entertaining and funny and sad, but I kept wondering what the fuss was about. I kept thinking to myself that I must be broken for not getting the love of the book. It's good, but not great, not absolutely amazing.

And slowly (I read it all in two big sittings, so not so slowly, really) I began to like it a whole lot more. And then, suddenly, I was panicking. Something is going to happen. Someone is going to die. I can feel it. Right? RIGHT? WHO? NO. NOT MY FRIENDS. I will never forgive John Green if someone dies!

And then the end? Yeah, it basically destroyed me. I was reading super fast and missed a lot, I'm sure, and will have to reread (after I recover, which will take around a decade or so).

  • Yes. I ugly cried through the end of this book. Then something in it made me laugh and I was laughing through the tears.

I loved it. I'm still not ready to re-read it and I don't think I could handle the movie, unless I'm alone at home watching it.

  • Oh yeah, this is definitely an ugly cry read.  I did the same thing first time in reading it mega fast.  I went back to re-read six months later and I'm so glad I did.

  • I always love how these posts are.... they're all sob fests and the entry always has the ominous period at the end - "I just finished TFIOS.(period)" :)

@SilverGlitter05 - It was followed by an equally ominous (and dramatic) sigh as I prepared to explain how I felt after reading it. But I couldn't explain it so I gave a play-by-play lol.

  • @booknerd226
    I love it!
I feel like we all had the same cry your eyes out reaction :)
  • You might want to put a spoiler alert on this post.  There are a few people in the world yet who haven't read or been spoiled for this book.

  • I cried through the entire second half of this book.  And like you, @booknerd226, I wasn't that into it at first, either.  I probably missed some things at the end because I flew through it, too, but I'm not sure I'll ever re-read.  I loved this book so much, but I don't want to put myself through it again.  And ditto about only watching the movie when I'm home alone.

Just added it, sorry. I didn't even think about it but tried to leave out spoilers.

  • I'm broken.  I didn't like the book so much.  I didn't connect with it and I didn't cry.  Broken.

  • I know, I know but I can't help it!  It was sad but....not enough of a book for me.

So, you're saying you fell in love with it the way you fall asleep...slowly and then all at once?
