Speed reading is my only talent. Seriously. If only I could earn the big bucks by reading, we would be rolling in money.

  • Slower than molasses. It's actually embarrasing how slow I read. As much as I love to read, speed is not one of my strong points, hence my measly little goals every year.

  • I'm around 352, but I don't think this is completely accurate. At least for me.  When I am reading something new I read much slower as I try to take in all the words and form a picture, once I have that in my head I read much faster.  I was really distracted by the words in the piece and kept wanting to go back and form the words in my mind more.

This is me too.  Totally.  When I first start reading I really notice the words, but once I get going it all just flows. I don't even notice that I'm reading specific words anymore.  It all just flows in my head.  I don't know if that even makes sense, but I can't think of how else to describe it.

I got 513 words per minute, 105% faster than the national average.

I was all verklempt by the situation though, haha!

  • I got 487 wpm (80% higher than the nat'l average), which sounds about right.  I am by no means a speed reader but I'm not slow either.

My biggest thing is that I need to get on a roll when reading.  I can NOT do the read 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there thing.  Either I pay absolutely no attention, or I get super pissed off that I have to stop reading.

  • 849 WPM. I knew I was a fast reader but that is crazy.
  • I can't get it to open on my phone but now I'm even more excited to go home so I can try this.

  • I was much faster on Alice than War of the Worlds too. On War I got 5% slower than the national average and on Alice 14% faster.

Like some of you have said, once I settle into a story I read much faster, but at the beginning I tend to read much more slowly to take everything in as the story takes shape.

  • I was 33% faster than the national average. I'm a little quick, but not crazy fast by any stretch so that feels about right. Depending on the book though I can go faster once I'm really into the story.

  • 540 wpm. I read fast because I do a lot of skimming over some parts of books and don't read many "heavy hitters." I unapologetically read for entertainment purposes almost exclusively.
