Rosalie is currently cuddling with her daddy, so I thought I would try to write out her birth story.
So the cliff notes:
Rosalie Diane was born via induction on Monday, 12/30/13 at 7:04PM. She weighed 8lbs 7oz and measured 20 inches long at a GA of 36 weeks 6 days.
The whole story:
I guess the story starts on Friday 1/27. I went to my normal MFM appointment for my weekly u/s. While there, my blood pressure hit 166/104, so the MFM dr decided to send me up to L&D for monitoring. My BPs up there were totally erratic and slightly concerning, but all my labs came back fine, I wasn't spilling protein, and I had no other pre-e, so they told me to go home, lay on my left side and to come back the next day for continued monitoring.
I went back the next day and it was pretty much the same story. They sent me home and told me to call if my BP went over 160/105 and/or if I started showing any other pre-e symptoms and I was supposed to do a 24 hour urine. I was going back Monday for more appointments and we were going to make a plan at that point.
So Sunday morning rolled around, and I woke up with a pretty bad headache, my BP was out of control, and I had swelling in my hands. So I called my OB's office and they sent me back to L&D again. When I went in, my quick urinalysis came back with twice the normal amount. So at that point, the OB on call decided that it was time to get her out. So he gave me the option of a c-section or an induction and I opted for induction.
They set me up and got me going on pitocin somewhere around 5:00 on Sunday, then they placed a balloon cath. The plan was to wait until it fell out (at which point I'd be 5 cm). It took all night and the next morning, and it never fell out. My OB took it out around noon on Monday, and I guess the dr that placed it inflated it more than they thought, because I was 6cm and 90% effaced. Once it was out, they broke my water.
Once my water was broken, things started moving along much quicker. I was debating an epi, but around 4:00, the pain got too intense, so I decided to get one. In the beginning, it was amazing. However, things started wearing off, so I topped myself off and could still feel a ton of pressure, so they called anesthesia and they have me a denser dose. It still didn't make much of a difference, so around 5:00, they decided to have me start pushing through the pain.
She was sunny side up, so it was a little bit more difficult than I had hopes... I pushed for almost two hours when they finally called in the doctor to deliver. My epi had pretty much completely worn off. I could feel everything. And I did have to get an episiotomy. But as of 7:04PM, none of that mattered any more, because our sweet little lady came into the world. We got to do skin to skin right away and BF as soon as I was sewn up, so I was really glad about that.
DH was amazing through the whole thing. He held my legs, gave me ice chips, and put cool cloths on my forehead.
And Rosie has just been great so far. She's very sleepy and so far has been BFing like a champ. She seems very content. I am so madly in love with her, it all feels so surreal. I can't believe that I'm actually her mom and she is actually my baby. DH is totally smitten with her. Seeing them together makes my heart ache.

And here she is!

Our pushing scenarios sound identical. Two hours for me too and epi had worn off. I tore naturally but I can imagine the episiotomy would be worse. Hope you are feeling ok!
