Re: Thankful Thursday

  • I'm thankful my FIL plows!
  • I'm thankful for the fresh start that a new year brings! While I don't like making resolutions because I tend to forget them anyways, I'm excited to get back to treating my body better!

I'm also thankful for our new roommate that moved in yesterday... She is actually totally NORMAL and we actually have a lot of similarities (both vegetarians and same career path). It's going to be such a big help financially to have her here!

I'm thankful for an all wheel drive SUV that helped me make it into the office this morning.

  • I am thankful for heat, netflix and the fact I don't have to go anywhere today. It's a high of 14 degrees where I live and we are getting 8-14" of snow today. ;;)
  • I'm thankful for a car that started and has heated seats despite being -40 celcius this morning.

  • I'm thankful that DH drives an SUV and drove me to work today.  My Mini Countryman would NOT have done well on these roads.  They're calling for 12-15" and it's a whopping TWO degrees right now.  I'm also thankful that since it's still supposed to be pretty ugly tomorrow we're allowed to wear jeans to work.  This is a BIG deal for my office.

  • I am thankful that bringing our dog outside into the snow 2 nights ago stopped his seizures. The last 2 times he's had them he wasn't able to stop and we had to take him to the emergency vet, coming home with hefty bills.

  • I'm thankful for DH's ability to take care of me when I'm sick.  He went out at got me cough syrup last night, when it was determined the three bottles we had in our house were all expired. He's made sure that I'm staying up on my drugs to help break the fever and he only kicked me out of the bedroom once because of my coughing. :)

I'm also thankful for my two teammates, who are taking over at work today, since I couldn't be there.  I have a student teacher starting today and I felt horrible that I wasn't there. Such is life, but it makes it so much easier knowing I don't have to try to explain that to the sub.

It just sucks that there's so little we can do to help him. We got him on New Years Day 2011 and he started having seizures about 6 months later. The vet put him on Phenobarbital after he'd had them about 3 times or so over the course of 3 months. That was controlling them pretty well (would only have a seizure every 6-8 months and they always stopped after 5 or so minutes) until about October.

He had a terrible episode in October and wasn't able to stop. The emergency vet had to give him an IV of muscle relaxers and kept him all weekend. Same thing happened in November, at which point they started him on a second seizure control medication.

NYE night it was looking like we were heading in that direction again, but we brought him outside because the vet had mentioned that when they continue in an extended sequence, his brain can start overheating. Once we got him outside, he stopped within 2 minutes.

Poor guy. We feel SO bad for him but the vet says it's just something that happens and there's no known cause.

  • I am so thankful for my family. I have the best parents, brothers and sisters and In laws. Spending time with them during this holiday season has just made me appreciate them even more and so happy we all live so close to each other. :)

  • I'm thankful that DH and I work so close that we were able to carpool this morning because not only was it snowing but we also got a flat. So I'm also thankful we were right by a gas station and didn't ruin our rim on the way.
I'm also REALLY thankful that I have some very supportive family that now knows we are having difficulty TTC and have been very good about what is appropriate or not to say.

  • I am thankful I got to work with my favorite RN today/ tonight.

I tried... I have nothing else. I would be thankful for Aleve if it actually worked like it was supposed to. :-(

Oh. And a DH who fixes supper and won't let me get up when I have horrible cramps, and have worked a long day. He makes me swoon <3
  • I'm thankful that my husband doesn't post stupid overshare stuff on FB that embarrasses me. He's classy.

    Married August 2009

    3 years. 5 losses.

Our rainbow baby boy born 11.16.15

  • I am thankful for DH not saying anything about not wanting to go get a SA.  I'm sure it is not the most comfortable thing that he has done, but I love that he is as eager to get the ball rolling as I am.

I am also thankful for the few friends that know we are TTC.  It is really nice to have someone to talk to even if they don't understand personally what we are going through. Their words yesterday when I told them that we were getting testing done were so sweet and positive.
