Not so Messy Progesterone?

I'm confused, more than anything, and "typing out loud" if you will.

I started the progesterone suppositories last night. I've had zero mess. No leakage. Nada.

I'm baffled. Everything you ladies have mentioned about them has indicated major messiness. Maybe my RE has me on a different type? They honestly look kinda like little white bullets, flat on one end, then cylindrical up to a semi-rounded end.

Guess I should just be happy, I guess, right? Haha. I was so expecting the mess, I've been thrown for a loop.

It took some time for them to get messy for me, almost like it built up over time.

ETA: I think it also depends when and how often you take it.

Hmm. I was thinking about that...the build-up factor that is. Guess we'll see if things start getting messy after a couple more days.

I'm taking them twice a day; one in the morning and the other at night.

What kind are you on? Some were messier than others for me. ETA never mind, I just read your description. I never used those. Glad you don't have to deal with the mess!

  • I also found them messier over time, but I never really found them terrible. Sure, it was a little extra discharge, but it wasn't anything that affected my day-to-day activities.

  • I found Prometrium to be way more messy than Endometrin. I was also using them three times a day. The discharge definitely increased after a few days.

  • Mine doesn't have a brand name on it, so I can't really compare that way! No worries. I'll continue wearing a liner and just being prepared for the mess, even if it never really shows. :)

  • I also think it depends on if its considered a suppository, insert, or oral capsule used vaginally.  They're kind of all lumped into "suppository" but that's not really the case.

Regardless, like you said, you'll be prepared.  And I'm sure happy not to have the mess!

  • yeah, it takes time. and with pregnancy in general you leak a ton without the supps. the supps can be different depending on the pharmacy. i've had some that came in their molds and that pharmacy actually did the compounding. they were more wax like and melted fasted. i've also had the kind that come individually packaged. those seem to keep their shape better and not melt as quickly. i prefer the latter because it's a PITA getting them out of the molds. hate those.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

These sound more like the type I'm using. It's like they were molded, and then popped into individual packets.
