What are you reading? What is your book goal for 2014?
Re: Monday book club
I'm reading Shadow Kissed - Richelle Mead (Vampire Acedemy #3). REALLY good so far... but it talks about ghosts and freaks me out. I'm a wuss.
Listening to Raven Boys - Maggie Steifvater. It's good, I finally got into it. I need to wrap it up since i have like 5 other audiobooks on my ipod!
My book goal is 60 again!
At the very least I know it'll be done on the 22nd (I go in for allergy testing that day. The instructions say to bring a book or something to entertain you for about an hour)
Tried to at least set a reasonable goal of a book a month. It will definitely be a mood boost if I can get over 12 done this year.
Book #1 for 2014 was Ubik by Phillip K. Dick. I had seen it on a couple "best novels" and recommendation lists, so I decided to give it a go. Can't say it was worth the hype. I enjoyed it but didn't get attached to the characters and was able to easily predict the plot twists once I figured out what was going on. Worth a read if you enjoy classic sci-fi or are in the mood for something a little weird.
I'm now reading The Complete Guide to Being Evil by Laura Stephenson, and so far it's great. I met the author via National Novel Writing Month last year, and it's cool to read a published work by someone you know. I'll wait till I've finished to give a full endorsement, but I know there's some urban fantasy fans on this board who I suspect might enjoy this one.
I also got Killing Jesus by Bill Orielly to listen to. I haven't put it on my iPod yet so I have to make sure it wasn't auto returned to the library. Lol.
My goal for this year is 30. It's less than last year but I still think that it is pretty impressive for myself.
