Cordless vacuum?

I currently have a Dyson Blueprint.  It works well but with 3 LO's I need to clean the floor multiple times per day.  Worst part is winding the cord back up when I'm finished with it.  Are there any good cordless vacuums that work well (suction, adequate battery life, last more than 6m)?

Re: Cordless vacuum?

  • I don't have cordless...but I do have two vacuums with self-rewinding cords that I love. The first is a dyson DC26 (canister) that I really do like but just doesn't fit my lifestyle (I have two large dogs and two cats, this vacuum just isn't made for that kind of pet hair, but it's a good option if you don't have pets (or lots of carpet to contend with).

The second is a hoover windtunnel whole-house; the best vacuum I've ever owned! Great suction, long cord (but self-rewinding) and you can turn the beater-bar on/off so it's good for carpet and hard floors.
  • I have a Dyson handheld that I love. i used it for quick jobs, and as long as I don't put it on max power (there's a super setting) it lasts a few weeks for us and recharges quickly when it dies.

I still use an upright Dyson for bigger jobs/carpet.  It's the compact model so its easy to carry around and really light... but not cordless and not self-rewinding.

I did have a Hoover about 5 or so years ago that was, honestly, very comparable to the Dyson on performance and had a self-rewinding cord. I left it with my mom when I moved out as a goodbye gift ;) I'm not sure they still sell it/anything comparable, but it was a higher end Hoover ($350 or so i think)
  • we love love love our Hoover Linx. It's the best ever for quick clean-ups. We got it at amazon for around $148. Worth every penny!
  • we also LOVE our Hoover Linx. It is the best! We vaccuum moer now because of it and it's so light and easy to bring out for quick suctions or just general cleaning. It cuts our cleaning down to half. Agree with pp -- worth every penny!
  • Love my Black & Decker!
