Re: QOTD 1/7

  • I don't, but at the same time I don't NOT believe in ghosts to the point where if I'm wrong, I want to piss anyone off. ;) If that makes sense.

  • Kinda.  They freak me out, I can't even watch a paranormal activity commercial.

MIL is convinced FIL is still around their house.  I tell her I don't want to hear about it, then go sleep there!  She doesn't listen.  I'm currently reading a book with a ghost and I HATE reading scenes then going to bed (usually alone since H works nights).

  • Yes I do. I lived in a house for a while where many ppl (who we did not tell about what we saw) would see the figures. There were also massive scratch marks that would keep showing IP on the inside of our basement door...let me tell u this was no raccoon!!

We stayed in the house until we needed to move for other reasons but EVERYONE who came into our house, including non believers, all felt something

  • @chasemamabear That is freeeeaky!!  I would be gone in a heartbeat!!

I do believe in ghosts.  My parents have several stories from when they were younger and lived in Juarez, Mexico.

I also have one experience from when I was younger.  We lived in CO and my brothers room was in the basement.  He had a TV in his room, so I'd always hang out in there with him.  He had a four poster bed and would hang his backpack on one of the posts at the foot of the bed.  Well, one day we were just watching TV when suddenly the TV went fuzzy black and white and the channel in the corner started changing going up sequentially.  We were of course weirded out, but totally freaked when his backpack started floating in the air!  We ran out of the room screaming our butts off yelling for my mom.  Thankfully we moved not too long after that, but my brother refused to sleep in his room for a month after that.

Ahhh, see, this is what I mean! I don't really believe in ghosts, but I don't want to piss off anything that may be scratching at my basement! ;)

    How scary!

DH thinks I'm nuts, but I believe that the spirits of our departed loved ones are always around us. Last Christmas, we were looking at my Uncle's Christmas tree because he and my aunt have some ornaments that belonged to my great-grandmother and I wanted to see what they looked like (they've since given me 6 of those ornaments for my own tree!). Later that evening, we were sitting around eating cookies and talking about memories of my great-grandmother. As we were talking, one of her ornaments fell off the tree and crashed to the ground (and unfortunately broke). When it happened, no one was anywhere near the tree or had been even close to it for a few hours. I believe that was her way of letting us know that she was with us that night.

EDIT: I'm also a big Long Island Medium fan, and totally think that she is 100% legit and I would love to have an appointment with her! This also drives H crazy...he thinks it's a bunch of crap. We agree to disagree on that one!

  • @nic12184 I've seen a medium a couple of times and it is amazing.  I didn't believe 100% until after I saw her.

Ok, so these are specifics.  When I saw the medium she was like, "Why are you here, you are a medium."  I didn't believe her at first but I'm having more and more experiences since then that have made me think "Ok, I think I have the ability to talk to dead people."  (PS I was basically atheist before)  It's really strange, I'm working on developing the ability.  I figure it's worth a shot, I just look like a crazy person if I don't actually have the gift.

DH hates it.  He claims he doesn't believe in it, but told me he's had some weird things happen since I started testing the waters.  He told me he doesn't want anyone to watch him in the bathroom, since he said that the bathroom door keeps locking itself when noone is in there.  I've heard it click when I'm in the couch.  He pretends to not hear it.

You all think I'm crazy now don't you?

  • I asked this because of some freaky things that have happened since DHs grandfather passed away last week. I always thought that their were spirits that may be around but I have never witnessed anything before.

First right after we got the call, the lights on the ceiling fan started flickering. It was to the point where if it was the whole house that it would have rest the clocks and the tv. The same thing happened in the bathroom when DH was in there and then our bedroom.

During the funeral yesterday all the lights flickered in the church and then at the restaurant after when everyone was getting ready to leave there was weird static coming through the speakers (that weren't on).

    Weird.

  • Kind of? I wouldn't say that I believe in that sort of stuff all the time. But, one of my favorite things that I took part in as a kid were the ghost tours in Gettysburg.

I don't think your crazy.  It would be hard to not believe in mediums since I believe in ghosts.  I think it's pretty cool that you can pick up on things like that.  I'd be interested to know what you experience in the next year or so.

  • Ditto the above!

  • @Siepel12, I don't think you're crazy! At least no more so than everybody else :P

I'd say I believe that there can be spirits still around and such, but I've never had any experiences with it. I went to a "psychic" once and it was totally wrong, but I think there are people out there who can connect to another level.

  • I'm in the middle.  I think they may be around but maybe not.  I remember when I was a kid, my friend, her brother, and I would go all around trying to find ghosts.  There was something in a neighbor's attic window and we would watch it for hours, hoping to see some movement.  Who knows what it really was.
  • I definitely believe ! I love ghost hunting shows and would love to do something like that! Only experience I have is from right after my grandfather passed away I was staying with my grandmother (in her bed) the night before the funeral. I clearly remember laying there in the dark and I felt a kiss on my cheek. I was very close with him (and still am with my grandma) , I know it was him saying goodbye :-)

DH DOES NOT GET IT when I cry watching that show b/c he thinks it's all fake (he's not religious and doesn't believe in a lot of stuf) and....yet when he needs somehting or help he prays to his memere and pepere...

I totally believe in ghosts...love ghost adventures (but hate ghost hunters) yet can only watch it in the middle of a sunny day with DH b/c I am  A BIG SCAREDY CAT!  I cannot see scary commercials at night either!
