Anyone snowed in?

I know we have some Midwesterners here.  It's actually been illegal to drive on the roads here unless you're an emergency/health personnel since Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and they said it'd be illegal until at least midnight tonight.  They can ticket you and even put you in jail if you cause an accident while driving during the level three (when it's illegal).  I'd like to say I got a lot of reading done but I've been working from home today and yesterday..

Who else is stuck?  Anyone?

  • We're not snowed in, but we're stuck in the house due to crazy cold temps.  I'm in central ohio and we're currently at -20* with the windchill.  Last night it was -10* with -40* windchill.  Crazy!

  • My parents are housebound in IL.  The cold front is moving east, and schools here were cancelled due to extreme cold temperatures (and it's not nearly as cold as it is in the midwest).

  • I'm in Upstate NY and we are stuck in because of the cold also.  The temperature is below zero, the wind chills are ridiculous and the winds are blowing 25mph with gusts up to 60mph.  Thankfully we didn't get any of the snow that was supposed to accompany the wind or it would be really nasty.

  • Not snowed in but we do have a bazillion centimeters of snow and we're under blizzard, snow squall and extreme cold temp warnings. School buses are cancelled, but that's about it. Life goes on pretty much as usual around here in the winter.

    It was -34 C (-31 F) this morning at my house and -45 C (-49 F) at my Dad's.

  • We are in the middle of a snow squall off of Lake Ontario. Not a whole lot in accumulation the last couple of days but it is gusting like crazy. The road/hwy in front of my house is "closed". However MH and I just went to town and there is no sign of the closure anywhere.
  • We're not snowed in in my city but 45 minutes or so away, it was illegal to drive. We got dumped on too with windchills at around -20 to -30. Most schools and businesses closed yesterday but not mine. I was actually the only person on my team who showed up last night. And tonight.

  • I have never been happier to live in the south. It was 8* when I went into work today and sunny, so it actually didn't feel as cold as it was.

  • We were supposed to stay off the roads Sunday night-this afternoon. No school yesterday, today, or tomorrow. DH cleared our driveway and drove around a bit this evening and our roads are still covered in snow and ice. We live out in the country so it always takes forever to get them cleared off. Hopefully they will soon, I'm going stir crazy and I didn't stock up on books on my last library visit!

  • I don't know how you all do it. This is SO foreign to me. I feel like I'm freezing when it is below 55 degrees (not -55, just plain 'ol 55). I'm a California wimp. It's 62 degrees outside right now.

However, I can ride out an earthquake like a BOSS.
    Haha...this exactly!

  • Does not compute.

It's 25 degrees here and that's a huge deal in southern Louisiana. Of course, it'll be 70 by Thursday. : /
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

    This is nuts!!!

Schools were closed here in Eastern PA yesterday because it was 0* in the morning!

They were delayed 2hrs this morning because it was 8* this morning (but it's going to get up to 22*!!!)!

  • We did end up having some closures yesterday. The blizzard hit all around us and closed one major highway for over 200 kilometers in both directions. When our highways close, you know it's bad.

We had an earthquake here a couple years ago while I was at work.  Everyone ran outside like crazy people because we thought we were being bombed.  We fail for multiple reasons for that one.

I can't imagine making kids wait outside for the school bus when the windchill is negative digits.  Poor little popsicles.

  • We were housebound Monday and Tuesday because of the snow and -40 temps. We also had the city put out the emergency vehicles only notice. They had to come out and repeat it several times because people weren't listening and the emergency crews couldn't get to everyone who managed to get stuck on the roads. Today we at least got to leave the house, but there's still a lot of progress yet to be made.
