Fail

So I saw this "Mommy and Me" journal on pinterest awhile back. It's basically just a notebook and you can write notes back and forth to each other, give compliments, etc. I go out and buy this fancy schmancy journal and tell Aiden my idea. He looks at me dead serious and was like, "So it's basically like texting, just on paper?" Then he laughed at me, and told me I need to step away from pinterest.

Re: Fail

  • Haha I like the idea of it! And because it's on paper it's permanent which makes it better than texting!
  • That's what I told him! I also think it's cool to watch his handwriting improve through the years too. I'm going to keep bothering him to do it.

  • I like that idea. My dinner was a pinterest fail tonight. It was too spicy for me and M didn't like it either. She took 2 bites and after each one scrunched up her face and said no. ;)

  • Just start it. Eventually he'll write back.
  • I LOVE that idea!! That is totally somthing Chase would do. We call them random notes of kindness.

He has left me cute little notes in random places for years. One time he drew me a skeleton (it was Halloween and he was learning to draw them in 3rd grade art class) and wrote I love you mom on a peice of toilet paper and shoved it inside the empty toilet paper roll so it would fall out when I changed the roll. I found it later that day after he left to spend the weekend with his dad.

I also randomly write little notes to put in his lunch box and one time I found one he wrote back when he packed lunch for me.

He gets this from my step-dad. He does cutsey stuff like that for my mom all the time. Cards, writes I love you on the mirror of the bathroom so she sees it in the morning after her shower, leaves her favorite snacks on the seat of her car in the morning. It used to make me gag, but now that Im older I totally appricate him teaching my son his charming ways.

Im totally doing the book thing with Chase.

  • @mrs.skiz that is so cute. I've done the lunch box notes before and he loved it, so I thought he would like this too. I'll just keep writing him until he gets sick of me and writes back haha.

I'm sure he will.  I think the new generations need a push for writing with paper and pencils!

  • @mana8503 - They do! It really upsets me that some schools aren't teaching cursive anymore.

    That...is so adorable!
  • I'm a note leaver too. I'll keep the notebook thing around to do with Madison when she gets older. Nothing like a little note to brighten your day. :)

WTF? Are you serious? Wow, that is just crazy!

I know Chase got pissy last night because he needed a biography for a project and I wouldnt let him use a book on CD. Damn kid, be happy I considered letting you use a kindle. But eff all that noise too. We are going to the library and checking out an old fashioned dusty ass book on JFK. Punk.

  • Handwriting instruction in general tends to fall by the wayside in some schools.  There's just no time.

The fact that a 19 year old couldn't read a document because its in cursive blows my mind. I hate cursive and never use it, but that's crazy to think our children won't be able to read it or write it!
