Ds is sick. I have court in the morning and dh has a meeting he cannot miss. My SIL's sister is going to come watch ds. I said we would pay her and she said no. I'm going to pay her. Question is how much? She's coming at 7:30 am until likely 2 pm.

Thanks!!

Eta- we've never had to pay a sitter so I'm clueless!

That's what I was thinking... $10 an hour and round up. I wasn't sure if that was still what people paid or not! That's what I was paid years ago! Thanks!

  • I know this event has come and gone, but I just wanted to mention that in this case, where the person refuses payment or its a quasi-family member where money exchanges may feel awkward, I also have considered a gift card for a restaurant, movies etc so you can at least give them a token of your appreciation without it being money directly. Just a thought....

  • she refused the money and I asked my SIL for suggestions on where she would like a gc... my SIL said "you will absolutely not pay her.  You do not pay family!" But I still want to do something.  I am thinking maybe getting her something for her birthday from DS (typically we don't get her anything) Now I feel like I'll tick my SIL off if I get her a gc.  family politics. ugh
