Did you guys see this? Re: Outlander filming

Just saw this today.  I really wish they weren't making this for a cable network:(  Guess I'll have to wait for it to come out on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

  • I'd be upset if it weren't on cable.  There'd be way too much cut out.  ;)

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I was thinking more like an "Orange is the New Black" kind of release:)  Still got the dirty, but those of us who don't have cable could watch...

Yes! And not just the sex but the time constraints of working with commercial breaks would force them to delete scenes. I need ALL the scenes!

  • I think this is (hopefully) one of the best ways to bring this series to the screen.

This would be ideal.  I wouldn't want to see Outlander on regular network or basic cable, it needed to be a Starz/HBO/Showtime kind of channel if it was going to be on TV.  I would've totally preferred (selfishly) if it was done as a Netflix Original, but that wouldn't reach as many people as putting it on premium cable will.  It will clearly boost Starz subscribership, but folks like me will be waiting for Netflix or Amazon.  I'm hoping that iTunes or Amazon has a season pass kind of deal, where you can watch the episode a day or two after it airs on Starz.  I have no interest in paying for premium cable.

Exactly where I was going with this post.  We have not had cable for two years now and have only missed ESPN.  Even when we were paying the outrageous cable fees, we didn't have the movie channels.  It would be nice if they would do the same thing they did with "Under the Dome" - air on TV first then have available on Amazon the next day...

Yup.  We have the most basic of basic cable (at something like $22/month), and barely watch anything but PBS and NESN (local version of ESPN) anyway.  I'd gladly pay $3/episode for Outlander, but I'm not upgrading to $50+/month cable for it.
  • I have said it once, and I will say it again.  I think we Canadians will be lucky for a change.  Showcase will be airing it and we should be able to stream it for free. Yay!

  • Direct Tv usually has a try Starz for 12$ a month for 3 month deal so I've got money put aside to do it. Or I'll watch it streaming on one of the black market tv websites.
