"Final Date" before baby?

My EDD is only 9 days away.

DH and I want to so something special tomorrow night, just the two of us. Sort of to celebrate the past 7 years of just the two of us and to welcoming our new LO. It's probably our last chance to do something "big" together for at least a couple of months.

I'm stumped though. I don't want to sit at home or go to a movie or something. Any ideas or anything any of you planning on doing before LO arrives?

  • I'd probably go out to a nice dinner and then try and get out and walk somewhere like an arboretum or something. I forget where you live, but is it warm enough to be outside?

Good idea!  I'd definitely go to a fancy dinner - somewhere you wouldn't take a baby.  I'm all about zoos/aquariums, so that might be a fun outing!

  • Definitely do dinner at a nice restaurant!  I'm already planning for our "last date before baby" dinner to be at the place where we usually go for our anniversary.

  • @amccul20 - I live in Allentown, PA. It's currently snowing :( The lows tomorrow are supposed to be in the 30s (high in mid-50s). I really like your idea, but I don't know if there would be anywhere that we could go right now.

I know during the Christmas season, they had horse carriages rides in Bethlehem, which is a beautiful area. I am currently checking to see if that's still going on.

  • How far are you guys from Longwood Gardens? That could be a really nice activity to do together before/after a nice dinner.

You could also check and see if there are any museum exhibits you really want to check out.

  • a nice dinner. something you won't be able to do with the baby. you'll be able to take a NB to dinner, that's no problem. but a nicer restaurant might be out of the question. i wouldn't do anything that requires a ton of walking. i made my edema worse by standing a lot and walking a lot. i went to a concert at 33w and while i'm glad we went it was a bad idea.

  • A couples massage and a nice dinner was our final date! It was a amazing, and so nice to spend the one on one time together before life gets crazy.  I also love the idea of walking around a museum/aquarium together.

There's so much there, though, that it might be worth it to drive out there, and then have dinner at a nice place in the area you wouldn't otherwise go to/have a chance to visit later! I think that distance is still doable on a Saturday if you leave earlier and make more of a day out of it.

But I can see how it could be annoying to have to drive that far to do something, and then have to drive home again the same day.

  • We never ended up doing anything special because I was on bed rest and then I was just miserable. We were out bowling the night I got put on bed rest though so that was kind of our last hurrah.

I hope you figure out something nice to do :) have fun!

  • We were planning to do something... then DS came at 39 weeks! Ha ha.

We did go out to a "fancy" movie theater for our anniversary the weekend before. It is one of those theaters where you sit in a recliner and they bring you fancy food and drinks. It was nice to do (and easy on a very PG woman).

My vote is for something relaxing.

  • We just went to dinner a few nights ago as our last big night out together, right before Christmas H surprised me with going to see Christmas lights at a park that you drove through.

If the weather was nicer to day I'd suggest just going and wandering around Bethlehem, it's such beautiful area. I love their downtown and I'd kill for Brew Works right now. I'm up in Wilkes-Barre and it's rainy and gross outside. I wish this area had more to do in the winter, I'd love to go to an aquarium or a museum of some sort.

If you're up to the drive, you're only about an hour from the Aquarium in Camden, but then... you'd have to go to Camden.

  • @AshleyMatt1215 - Lights in the Parkway? We did that a few days before Christmas. We go every year, it's awesome :) it's currently raining here and gross.

I think we are just going to get dressed up and head to a nice, expensive dinner. Hopefully, we can do something next week before the baby comes (I feel like a ticking time bomb, but I think he's in there until at least his due date).

  • @Pennstated912 I've never been to that one! He took me to one in Scranton at Nay Aug park, I think it's kind of the same thing though.
