GTKY: Decor

Which room in the house would you love to redo? Why and what would you change?

Re: GTKY: Decor

  • Our bedroom (including the attached bathroom). Both rooms have pretty hideous wallpaper and since we rent we can't remove it, even though it's falling off the walls! I'm tempted to rip it down and just deal with our landlord after.

  • Just one!? haha I think the bathroom its pink and ew...

  • The downstairs "bathroom" which is framed and wired but has no walls. Only a toilet which H uses when he "needs to sit and ponder life"

  • Hmmm... the whole house is currently painted "apartment" colors... very neutral. I am hoping to add some color all over but I would love to remodel the bathroom. It feels very impersonal and cold.

  • I would say our kitchen. For the most part it looks really good but I would love new countertops. Also one section of cabinets is just bottom cabinets with a blank wall above it so I would like to add cabinets above it. Then maybe a new floor the one my SIL picked out and did is nice but she had no clue what she was doing.
  • The master bathroom.  It needs more space, a double sink, a jacuzzi bathtub...

  • The master bath...I love it but it doesn't work. The shower leaks and has caused damage to the floor/ceiling underneath, and the tub is apparently installed wrong as no cold water comes out (and its a huge tub) So you have to run the water at least a hour or 2 before you actually want to use it...and there is no pressure in any of the taps...

Its really disappointing as the gorgeous master bath was something I was really excited about when looking at houses, and now it only gets used for the toilet in the night and we use the hall bath for everything else. But we don't have the money to fix all the problems and will need to break tiles to get to some of the plumbing so will pretty much have to gut the room to fix it.
  • we renovated quite a bit when we moved in...so i am pretty happy with thehouse in general. however...the kitchen could use a little update...or maybe just the correctly installed stuff! haha the people before us took a lot of short cuts. Hubs wants to knock down walls etc. to make it more open. We have plans to redo the non finished basement this spring/summer.
