   I wonder if it's partly to do with that portion of human nature where we "want what we can't have" ?

  I do, always have. I know women are supposed to want it more when they ovulate but for me it was always late. I have always had trouble with my cycles, irregular, bad PMS, bad reactions to BC etc so I just assumed it is another part of that.
  
  It's not to do with wanting what we can't have because my husband and I just go ahead anyway.

  Yeah, for a few days during it I am abnormally horny.  Have you tried having sex in the shower while on your period?  It's supposedly helps with cramps and stuff as well.

  Same here. As long as the cramping isn't too bad, DH and I just toss down an old towel and get busy. 

  There's no reason to think you "can't have it" just because you're on your period. It's an individual choice; some people don't like the mess, some people are in too much discomfort, some people just aren't in the mood during that time of the month. If you're up for it and your SO is up for it, there's no reason not to.

  I don't really get cramps and we tried it once but my fiance was still grossed out by it that it never happened in the shower (while on my period) again

  Sounds like my DH. He was a volunteer fireman for 10 years. He also works with live electricity in a radioactive environment  sometimes way up on one of those manlift things. Yet suggest sex while Aunt Flo is visiting and he's just not up to it.

  I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the last row of pills in my pack being placebos? DH is the same way, though - no fun on the off week.
