NBR: Taking a sick day

I'm taking a sick day today, just so that I can grade essays. :(  I wish that I could just take a day to relax, watch crap TV, and read, but instead I have about 35 essays I have to grade today.  It's impossible to get things done when the kids are home, so this is my one day to do it.

  • It really sucks that you have to take PTO in order to get work done.  That makes me really sad.

  • Good luck! I hope you fly through them, and that they are brilliant and thought provoking and fun to read. ;)

Yeah, it does, but I'm hoping that I can whip through them this morning and then hopefully relax a little this afternoon.  Trying to grade them at work during my prep just hasn't been happening because students often come ask questions during that time, and at home I want to spend time with the family.  So, this is kind of my only option.  I haven't used much time off this year at all, so I can handle giving away one day.

  • I decided two years ago that every time I got a class set of essays, I was taking a mental health day to grade. I am less stressed now.  It was so freeing!
