Spermcheck home sperm test **updated in comments**

edited January 2014 in Getting Pregnant
Has anyone used this as a preliminary check before having the seamen analysis done?
It was on sale at walgreens today, so we went ahead and got it. I figured it would be worth a try, I know it only checks to make sure the count is good. But what do we have to lose, $20?!

Re: Spermcheck home sperm test **updated in comments**

  • I haven't tried it personally and neither has Alan (Ha, see what I did there?) But I do know someone whose husband has azoospermia and the result showed that. Sorry, I'm not much help.
  • I did, it was very simple to use. It just gives you a line and only says if his sperm count is average. If it is below average you see just the control line. It was good for my DH to use because now he is more comfortable going to the lab for his SA. We may not know mobility etc but we know he's count is at least good.

  • @Sewilson33, that's what i was thinking, although he says he's not nervous about doing a SA. So we will see. We are doing the test tomorrow evening.

    @bruinsbabe33, thanks!
  • Glad to help! Hope everything comes back good!

  • We didn't but I wish I would have thought about it. I'm sure it would have given DH much more confidence to proceed with the real testing and maybe it wouldn't have taken us 2 years to get started.

    He didn't do it. He got off work late, and had a rough day. I'm bummed because that means 2 more days with no sexy time for me.

    ETA- thanks for asking @Xan921!
  • Yay! Glad to hear the count is at least good. Hopefully when it is time for the real one it is fairly easy for him!
