On Saturday DH started to get real bad back spasms. He was injured at work when a student ran into him and he was knocked over and fell on his back. This injury was on Dec. 6. He was doing so much better and even got cleared to go back to work, however on Saturday he was in so much pain, he begged me to take him to the ER. He also had bronchitis and a fever that would not go away. We were there for about 4 hours after I went home to be with the baby. (My parents were watching her at our house.) Two hours later he called me to tell me they were admitting him because they found a "spot" on his lung when they did a cat scan. He didn't tell me much else. I was worried but managed to sleep.
The next morning he called me to tell me that it is a 3cm mass on his lung and they were unsure of what it was. I was scared to death, of course thinking that it could be cancer. I was a mess, crying a lot. I pulled myself together and after my parents arrived, I went to the hospital. I wanted to make sure I was there when the lung doctor came in to talk to him. When the doctor finally came in, he said that he did not suspect cancer but he would put him on antibiotics and do a repeat cat scan in 4 weeks. I spoke up and said, "but what if it is cancer and it continues to grow during these 4 weeks?!" He said it is in a bad spot to do a biopsy, but he could do a PET scan to see if the cells were moving fast or slow. We agreed. They don't do PET scans in that hospital so he is going to have one done at a later point.
Now, his back is another story. He is still getting VERY bad spasms. He can't stand for long periods of time. He can't hold Liliana. He can't bend over. They discharged him with 2 different pain killers and 2 different muscle relaxers. He is not taking all of them but the ones he does take makes him like a zombie. He just wants to sleep all the time. He is having a MRI done on his back tomorrow. Please keep Dennis in your prayers.
Re: DH was hospitalized
Now as far as his back, he is going to get a Cortisone injection to see if that helps.
