Wine ... (yum)

J & I only drink sweet wines, so that is mostly what we have in the house. (and we may or may not have a good amount of it. hehe)

We have 1 bottle of a dry red (not sure what kind we got it at a wine tasting for attending.), 2 Moscatos, 2 Reislings, and a few other random sweets. I also have a sweet red.

So why am I talking about this...  what kinds of wine should I get for my party? The party is pretty evenly mixed on sweet vs dry wine drinkers. There could be about 15 people (though I haven't heard back from several yet.) I'm not sure how much of what to have. Anyone have any ideas?

  • I'm disappointed this post isn't about you enjoying the wine you are drinking. Like me Smile

Only because  I wrote the post while at work... If I were to write it right now it would include the fact I am currently enjoying a glass of Moscato. :)

I tend to like wines that are on the sweet and white side, so you've got me covered Smile I usually randomly buy bottles at the store, so I'm not much help.

  • I'm no help, I love sweet wine. I just got back from my book club and had several glasses of Oliver sweet red wine. (I hate red wine, but this is super sweet and deeeeeelicious!

We had all of our couple friends over for Thanksgiving in the fall and I bought 3 bottles of white and 2 bottles of red. Friends brought other bottles of mostly red (I think the bottles of red end up getting re-gifted as hostess gifts because we all tend to arrive with bottles of red and NONE of our friends like dry red wines).

I would probably do just 1 bottle of red, 1 bottle of dry white and a few bottles of sweet white :)

  • I like Moscatos, Reislings, and Prosecco/sparkling whites. I hate almost all reds except Malbecs from Argentina. Get a bottle of Malbec. Or, the other red I will drink is Red Truck Red, it's not too spendy and pretty good.

  • I might get a Merlot.  It's a bit softer than a cabernet, but just as yummy!  Maybe also throw in a Chianti.

I am not a big fan of whites, though I would NEVER turn down a glass of Canei (a mellow white)
