Just got a call about my HSG...

It was them trying to verify my benefits. I about had a heart attack on the price! 840 DOLLARS!!! Oh man this IF stuff is getting real. Yay for crappy insurance and a 1500 dollar deductible...

  • #-o I'm sorry your insurance doesn't cover more/you've got a deductible to hit before it will kick in. That definitely sucks.

  • I'm sorry about the bill.  At least you know that you're halfway to your deductible if there is any other testing.

It's definitely a shock when you get that first bill. IF isn't covered by our insurance, and it was a slap in the face when we got that $2,500 bill for my B/W blood draw. Thankfully my Dr was able to re-code it differently and we just had to pay the deductible, but it wasn't easy to see.

Also, when you get the bill, call the office and see if there's a discount for paying it in full.  Even with our $1,000 deductible I was able to pay $800 instead because we were paying it in full.

They told me it was due upfront when I got there on Monday.  Now I'm just wondering what other bills we are going to get for my bloodwork and DH's SA.  Guess I better get my credit card ready for some major swiping.

Do your benefits reset in January, because if so, it's good that you're eating away at your deductible this early. Hopefully the rest of the year is much better on your wallet.

Yes they do. I will say that DH and I made an agreement to wait until January rather than doing this all in November like I had wanted. It would much worse (moneywise) to reset in January after spending that money and have more deductible stuff come up.
