good morning!

Happy Monday friends. How was your weekend?

Mine was good. Nothing terribly exciting happening in this house.

H set his alarm at 5:35 to go run. Except it went off and woke me up as well as the dogs and he went back to sleep. Grr H Grr

Re: good morning!

  • Morning!!
We had a pretty low key weekend. Saturday afternoon we went out to the mall. I got myself a new peacoat. I have a slight addiction to them I think. I buy a new one every year. But I always wait until they go on sale! Yesterday I cleaned a bit and did laundry. We were supposed to go grocery shopping but somehow never made it there, so we've got to do that today.
DH made us a shelf to put all our movies on!

  • Way to go Mr jlq! That is awesome.

I love jackets too, but I am too cheap to buy them. I swoon frequently.

My A&P professor told us Friday to bring gloves to class with us this week because we were going to be looking at a cow's heart. whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt? That seems more like a lab activity than a lecture one!  He didn't specify what day this week, either, so maybe it's today. I hope not. I like the shirt I have on and would hate to get cow heart on it. haha.

Enjoy your day off, Joy!!! Good luck with your paper!

  • Hi joy! Good luck.

Hey quick question how do you like your Microsoft surface? I am looking at getting a new computer. I want more function than a tablet but not sure if a laptop is worth it.

  • Morning Gals! We had a pretty low key weekend as well. We went car shopping on Sat. I might be in a new car by the weekend. We shall see if the dealer can find one with all the opitions we want. Than H went skiing and I did some scrapbooking with my SIL. 2013 is almost complete, only 3 more pages left!! Sunday we took down the christmas tree (I know its late but I have been sick and we have not been home!) and watched football. I was of course excited that NE is out because I hate them. I was disappointed the SF lost because I am not a huge Seattle fan! They seem to be a bucnh of punk a$$es. I also don't like the fact that Lynch left the Bills, insulted my hometown and turned into a completely different RB. He was never that good for the Bills!

Aggie: Maybe make the dog bisquits Valentines Day presents instead of Christmas! That way they won't be late. I love the idea and I am sure they will be appreciated.

Joy: Hi!!! Enjoy your day off.

JLQ: Love those shelf! Looks amazing! Good luck with the cows heart, yuck!

They make an upgraded Surface (Surface 2) with full Windows 8.  Get that one.  Also invest in the typecover (not the touchcover).  It's just as small, just as portable, but it's soooooo much easier to type.

Overall, I think it's a good investment.  I leave my laptop at work a lot and just use the Surface at home.  I keep the files I need in my SkyDrive so I have access to everything.  It also has a USB drive!  I think it's a great hybrid laptop/tablet and excellent for portability.  So much more useful than an iPad.

I have the first generation Surface.  I want to throw it out the window and upgrade to the Surface 2.  Truthfully, it's biggest problem is my inability to understand Windows 8 RT.  (RT is the pared down Windows 8 specifically for the first generation Surface.  It's very limited in functionality).  I could fix so many issues with it if I understood the operating system.  I think if I sat down and really learned it, it would be worth gold.  Or, if I wiped it and put on full Windows 8, then it would be grand.

If we had a Microsoft Store here, I'd take it there in a hot second to fix it up the way I want.
  • Go Mr. JLQ - that looks great!  DH would never be able to build something like that... He thinks he's more handy than he is which can be a dangerous combination.  I won't comment on the second thing you mentioned because I might puke.  Blegh.

Aggie - I would be irritated by that as well.  DH always hits the snooze button which normally isn't an issue since I get up before him but on days like today where I have off, I get irritated.

Hi degrea!  Congrats on almost finishing your scrapbook!

Joy - enjoy Maury and your day off.  You are NOT the father!

I had to work all day on Saturday (8-4) which was awful but I have today off so that helps.  Today, I bought myself a day pass to our local community center and went for a run.  Now my legs feel like J-E-L-L-O and my lungs feel like they are going to explode.  Turns out not running for 3 months puts a strain on your endurance.  But now I can sit on my ass the rest of the day and not feel guilty about it!

Oh no!  I bet you aren't as "out of it" as you think, but definitely not as good as you were before you took a break!!

I'm starting "Ease into the 10K" for about the fifth time.  I actually made myself a training schedule.

I've run two 5Ks with my good friend from college and both times I've gotten terrible terrible headaches afterwards because I hadn't trained properly.  She wants to do another one in the middle of March, so I'm over-preparing and planning to be able to go for 10K by then.

Today is day 2 of my training...  ha.  But!  I could start on Week 2 of the program and feel very good!
  • Good luck with your training Joy!  You're an inspiration :)

  • You people who run! Im a firm believer in not running unless you're being chased.

Our weekend was good. We had some more visits from people who hadn't yet met ds2. I didn't accomplish as much as I wanted to around the house but that's life with two now I guess. Hopefully my evenings this week are good and I can get a lot accomplished.

Jlq - I love those shelves! Your h did an awesome job!
  • Ha!  That totally used to be me Echo!

  • I also do not run unless being chased. Even then, I'm more likely to attack the person than run away. hahahah!!
Thanks for the shelf love, I will pass it on to DH! Not that he needs it, he's pretty proud of himself already. hahah!
Degrea - Yay new car shopping! What are you looking at getting?
E - Booo for working Saturday, but yay for having off today!
Echo - When are you starting daycare back up again?

Oh god.. I'm an inspiration in balancing running with my need to drink every night.  :-)
  • Haha this is me!
  • I started back today. I feel insane. My sil was here to help. It wasn't a terrible day but once everyone left ds1 was a pain and is driving me nuts. Of course dh is out tonight doing stuff for our business. My first time doing ds1s night routine alone and of course it's bath night!! ds2 just fell asleep so I'm hoping he stays asleep for at least 1/2 hour so I can get ds 1 bathed and in bed!
  • Holy crazycakes of a day. Combining so many people off because of MLK day, it being a Mon, and an impending major snow storm tomorrow. Oh and drs on vacation. I was running all day. Phew. So glad to be home.

Thanks for the advice joy! I love that it has a usb and Windows. And good luck with your training. :-). My goal is to be able to run 5 mi before Australia so we can run the harbor bridge

go e way to get back on the running train. You will find it will be MUCH easier to improve this time around.
