AW- They accepted offer

Got the call on Saturday that my dad's offer has been accepted.  Now have to wait til closing to be able to start the work.  The previous owner was a hoarder, so it is a mess, but I may be able to salvage some furniture (namely a dining room set and a hutch, and possibly a bed frame.) Husband is attempting to get roommate and if that happens I have 30 days.  Which means my big stuff goes in storage and I sleep on an air mattress in dad's junk room...which means hopefully no rent or utilities until I can move into house, which means faster debt pay off and more I can save for school.

Re: AW- They accepted offer

  • Congrats? I guess I"m confused. I thought you were planning on living with your husband until the divorce was finalized to help save money. Is you dad buying the house or are you?

Either way I guess it's a step in the right direction if it means faster debt pay off.

  • Dad took a heloc out on his current house to finance new little house.  Husband is currently looking for a roommate so if he can get someone in, he will give me 30 days.  So depending on whoever is asking agrees to move determines exactly how long I am here.  I have already moved bins to my dads of non-essentials.  I will be helping him on the house whenever I am not at work, last two weeks put in 128 hours at the office.
  • Ok. I guess I have a hard time understanding the way you write. Good luck!

  • I will try to be more clear in future posts.  Sometimes fingers/mouth and brain are not always working at the same speed.  Future expenses for new house: Rent $800 (which is my target high rent for an apartment), then all normal utilities.  I do have renters insurance but I pay for the year and it is normally $200.
  • air mattress isn't bad :)  I slept on a twin mattress on the floor of my parents finished off basement for a month (no bed frame).  It will all work out. Good luck!

  • I'm glad you'll be able to move out relatively quickly and found an affordable situation with your dad.  Any extra time in between to help with your debt will be a great bonus!  Good luck with all of your big changes!
  • And especially if I can keep getting the amounts of overtime that I have been getting it will be great.  But I am sure business will dip a little till we hit the spring.  But this is our off season right now.  (I work in the real estate industry.)
