Jewelry storage?

How do you store your jewelry? I have lots of costume jewelry that tangles all the time, and even though the necklaces are cheap, I don't want to deal with the mess. I tend to keep all my nicer jewelry in original boxes. I have a cheap traditional jewelry box that isn't big enough anymore. I would like to eliminate the mess that is on top of my dresser with all the boxes and tangled necklaces. Any ideas? DH thinks I need a jewelry armoire, but I'm hesitant because I want lots of hooks for necklaces, and most of them only have 24 hooks. What do you use/recommend?

Re: Jewelry storage?

  • I have a jewelry armoire and love it. I hang 2-3 necklaces on each hook.  They don't tangle if I'm careful taking them off and putting them on the hooks.  For my longer/chunkier necklaces I have a few 3M hooks in my closet that I just hang them on.

  • I have a jewelry armoire, but it only has 6 hooks.  Most of my jewelry is in boxes inside the drawers of the armoire.

Oh, and I still have a Caboodles that I use for my costume jewelry.  Yup, that's right, I'm rocking the 90s.

I do think something like this is fun if you've got the room for it:

  • I used "diamond" drawer pulls and glued them to the wall in my closet.

Like this, but glued directly onto the wall...

  • I use one of these cloth caddy things. Like this. However, mine has zippers that help keep everything in.

What I like is that you can put your matching pieces in one pouch, and they don't get mixed up.

What I don't like is that it doesn't fit bulky pieces. So those still sit on the dresser.

This idea may work for you.  Looks like it's just a towel rod with shower hooks on it.

I bought a tie rack from Amazon for like $10.  It is awesome, holds 24 necklaces and I can hang them in my closet out of sight.  I keep one on a towel rack that we don't use for towels to hold my most frequent ones I wear.
I can hang 2-3 per arm as well.

  • I just pinned this the other day.  I think it's great if you have the room.  I plan on putting this behind my closet door.

  • I have a ceramic egg crate like this  that I keep earrings in (the ones I wear regularly). I have a couple smaller dishes I keep bracelets and rings in and my necklaces are hung all over my closet wall using the mini command hooks. I have a jewelry chest that I use for stuff I don't wear often too.

This!  Some of the other ideas look super cute and more accessible for your every day stuff.
  • I don't have jewelery. It works great!
  • I have this and it's awesome!
